"My tax pro seems nice enough, but their software has a glitch. Unfortunately it cannot be used to actually file taxes, which seems odd for a company in this line of work. I paid $500 for a tax pro to do the work. Scanned and uploaded all of my documents. She had it done in a day or two. Two weeks later, after investing more of time than I would have expended to just do them myself, they still cannot figure out how to e-file them. I got caught in a loop where the program kept asking me to review the return, but would not allow me to do it. Lots of calls to customer service and my tax pro later and they finally fixed it. I promptly reviewed and approved them. The software then immediately went into another loop where it demanded my spouse's signature, but gave her no opportunity or method to enter it. My local tax pro could not help and local tech support could not figure it out. They gave me a case number and a phone number and referred me to their internal technical support line. "Ivan" there had less than zero interest in resolving my problem, so he transferred me to someone else. This person said they pushed a button, and now I needed to call my local tax pro again. Who is gone for the day. So $500 of my money and another $500 of time and aggravation and I still have gotten nowhere. If you are a programmer that can fix a GUI and some backend issues, please call H&R block. If you are trying to get your taxes done, it's less risky to use Bernie Madoff's CPA. H&R block is still not ready for prime time. UPDATE: I did finally get my taxes filed before the deadline after several more bouts of back and forth. I should also mention my return is not that complicated. Mostly W2 standard stuff. On the positive side, it has been almost a year and no audit..."
