"Unfortunately we hired this company for an estate sale. The first meeting caused us to become comfortable. That all changed once we signed the contract. Judith was arrogant, caustic, dismissive, condescending and dishonest to say the least. She rushed through the preparation because she booked another sale and changed our dates which no longer included a weekend. She promised to protect our marble floors and white carpet. She did neither. Her list of sale amounts differed from what my neighbors showed me what they paid with receipts. This was another proof of her dishonesty. She "gifted" many of my items to her helpers. I have proof of this on a security camera at my door with audio. She sends her charity people to clean out. They arrive in a rented truck with no designation of any charity. They are directed by her what items to take and what to discard. I found this whole process very suspicious. I wish I had learned from her many negative reviews. She made a very stressful time a complete nightmare. BEWARE!!!!!!"
"Wonderful people and fantastic items to shop and experience ❤️. Kate has forever been kind and welcoming whether or not I am making a purchase. I have added many beautiful items to my home thanks to her and Judith. The latest was a carpet well worth the price I paid. I would encourage anyone to stop in and browse, as there are multiple uniquely selected items to explore, as well as elegant furnishings to compliment any home decor. A happy place to shop!"
"I love The Perfect Thing, been shopping there since they opened 20 years ago. Kate and Judith are great, quite knowedgable, friendly and accommodating. More than half of my home furnishishings, lamps, artwork and decorative items were purchased from their store. Just bought a beautiful lamp and chest today. Visit The Perfect Thing it IS The Perfect Store."
"What I experienced is a classic insult and humilation by the owner. I am an Asian woman. Hobby is antique hunting. On August 12, 2023, I went to this estate sale in Lake Forest. The sale was organized by this company. I saw a piece of furniture and offered my price. The lady in orange rejected my offer. Later when i was still in the same house and the lady saw me there and she gladly gave the furniture to another gentleman at lower price (I offered $500 and she rejected it. But gave to someone else at 400). Knowing that I offered higher price, knowing I was on the same spot, she gave the piece to someone else, this is a huge insult to me. I went to asked her why she rejected my higher offer but rather sold the furniture with lower price to someone else, as this is just against a good business ethics. She claimed that "He spent $10000 today on this sale". This is obviously not true and confirmed as lie by the man himself. She then got mad and asked me to leave. She also called the police on me. The police had sympathy on me for how I was treated by this business owner. I am always respectful to people but I also won't take insult and humiliation. So in many cases, business owners have to make the best business decision for themselves. As a business woman myself, totally understand and respect it. However, you still need to respect ALL your customers. Every customer comes in with the expectation to be treated equally and fairly. Accepting a lower and late offer in front of the initial buyer is considered affront. Even worse, when asked for an explaination, simply making out a obvious lie is irrespectful. House owners out there, pls be careful of this company and this lady. Pls don't let this company represent your beautiful house and your precious belongs. I feel bad for this specific house I went to and for those customers who were rudely treated and left their reviews in below."
"Hired Judith for our Estate Sale. Everything went extremely well. She was accurate in assessing what would and would not sell, and very accurate on the pricing, as well. Received a significant amount of net proceeds from the two-day sale, and the house was promptly emptied out of unsold items , exactly as stipulated by contract. Very pleased with Judith's expertise."
