"Terrible!!!We went to the Frisco location. We were sold on the idea that it would be a friendly, warm environment to help with social skills training. It was not. On our first day we were the first to arrive, and instead of greeting us we were told that we needed to stay in our cars and they would get us later. My daughter uses a fidget to help her as a coping skill and they tried to take it from her hand and chastise her for using a fidget. She is really shy and they were demanding she speak to the other girls. It was her first day and she never met these people before in her life. They were making fun of her for twirling her hair. My daughter was there for only 10 minutes. It is something she does as a result of her anxiety but they run the place like a prison!! I don't know if it was because of her race but she was not welcome there. Do not send your teen to this place!!!!"
"United Through Hope is a great resource in the Denton area for families of children and young adults with autusm. They have programs to help address the social needs of clients with the goal of helping them become productive citizens as they go out into the world. Their most recent innovations include opening transitional housing programs in the local area for young adults, providing them with real life experience with roommates, paying bills, career planning and problem solving. Compared to the very few other resources for transitional housing in the area, this is by far the best bargain, providing quality services at a reasonable/manageable price as a non-profit service to the community. My son has been involved in UTH programs off and on for a few years."
"My son has been going here for probably about five years and I can't say enough good things about the programs and all the staff. They take such good care of him and are really interested in his growth and development as a person. They have helped him learn so many good lessons as well as giving him opportunities to socialize with other kids like him and kids that don't look down on him or treat him different because he's a little different. He always has so much fun. They really make sure that the kids are safe and well taken care of at all times. We love Dr. Harrier and her staff!"
"my review is no longer true, therefore am taking it off since I am now questioning the way Dr. Harrier values my child...We have always paid every event even if my child ended up not attending and even made donations! but to ask for money on an event that we never received a final confirmation email for is simply not acceptable considering our good record! The fact that she isn't owning up to her error is a big red flag! all she cares about is her money! not the relationship with the kids and their parents."
"This group has been life changing for my son and my family. The director and staff have helped him understand in a non-judgemental environtment the social rules. It is much better to learn from others in this group where everyone is learning then to be bullied at school for not understanding the social rules. They set high expectations and teach him how to meet these social rules. It is hard sometimes, but learning a new skill is not easy. I explain to him everyone struggles in life with something. Some kids it's math or science. For him it is social skills. This is his tutoring for how the social world works. I will always recommend UTH."
