"My pension is held by Fidelity. I had a personal account with Schwab. I decided it would be easier for my heirs if both were with the same broker. I went to the 7th Street Fidelity office in Fort Worth to inquire about moving my Schwab account to Fidelity. It was done. It was only when I paid my income taxes for the year did I realize that the move had cost me $2,500 in capital gains. You see, I thought the move would be handled as a roll over. My error. The Fidelity associate never explained to me that the Schwab investment would be sold and reinvested with Fidelity, creating the capital gains. Had Fidelity explained this to me, I would not have made the move. So of course, the Fidelity representative avoided explaining this tax consequence. It is my opinion that the Fidelity representative had a fiduciary responsibility to make me aware of the tax consequences in this transaction. If not a fiduciary responsibility, most definitely a customer service responsibility. Shame on you, Fidelity."
"I have been a client at this Fidelity location for several years and have continued to invest with Fidelity each year but not after today!! In prior years I had a good working relationship with my financial advisor but then, out of the blue and without warning, I was told he was transferred internally and I was assigned another advisor. I no longer feel Fidelity is a partner with me in helping me achieve my goals. I have felt pressured to move my accounts to managed accounts that charge high fees. Today I went and met with my new advisor and expressed my concern about some investments that were recommended to me. His response to me was everyone must find the right match for them and maybe Fidelity wasn't the right fit for me. How would that make you feel? Would you feel valued? Would you want to keep working with an advisor that said this to you? I was so upset grabbed my things and walked out. Then I called and asked to speak with the manager and for this advisor to be taken off my account. I spoke with the branch manager and my feelings were confirmed. I felt questioned and belittled by the branch manager. My blood pressure was rising and I was clearly upset but in my opinion the branch manager handled the situation poorly. I expressed my dissatisfaction and asked the branch manager to speak with his boss and he made it very clear and told me that would NOT happen and was very firm about it. I would NEVER EVER EVER recommend this location. I can't imagine how I can consciously keep my investments with this company any longer."
"I was considering opening an IRA account here but not after today. I work for attorneys...so sometimes I have to call these companies to get forms for clients and ask questions to make sure I'm getting the right form. I called today, was placed on hold, transferred, placed on hold again, transferred again, placed on hold again and then was hung up on after 30 minutes of sitting on hold. The guy "helping" me was supposedly trying to open his web page to the page I was on, but he took me off hold and then just hung up. I don't like my time being wasted, especially when it's related to work. I don't have time to sit on hold for 30 minutes for no reason at all. So thank you, Fidelity, for the terrible customer service over a simple question. I will not refer any clients, family or friends to you and will no longer be considering you for my IRA account."
