"I have had to stay and multiple domestic violence facilities and the number one absolute worst was the Kathy J Wynman shelter. The Advocates do little to nothing to help you. They basically sit around all day and do very little. The same is true for the administrator. Some of their staff are very good but as I understand it I believe they've left. When I was there I needed jeans. My caseworker who was an ex prison guard and had absolutely no skills as a social worker took me downstairs to where they put their donations and proceeded to go through all of the clothing talking about how her daughter needed items. She allowed me to get one pair of pants and told me that's all you're allowed. I finally got a voucher from Saint Vincent de Paul and after that SVD were incredibly helpful. I highly recommend if you're donating there ask you ask to volunteer and donate the items directly to the women in the shelter . I saw so many women there that had newborns that didn't have umbrellas, pumpkin seats or strollers it was ridiculous. We couldn't even get an umbrella and we had to walk the bus stop with children . It's such a shame because Kathy Jay weinman herself was a really exceptional individual and that shelter and his staff have made it a complete mockery. The staff have the attitude how much work can I get by with not doing? They say that they give groups and allegedly they have a woman there that's a psychologist but you can't can't get in to see her. I don't know what she really does frankly . Sickening display of unprofessionalism. There was a woman there who did group to help you meditate it was a very nice lady and helps those who she could. St Louis County police officer there too is another exceptional individual. I look back at that experience as dreary and dreadful. St. Louis County would be doing themselves a huge favor to look into where the money is being spent in that shelter because their workers don't work. It's excessive waste for St Louis County taxpayers."
