"I cannot speak highly enough about the wonderful, personalized, PATIENT centered care rendered at CTCA Zion. I am a health care professional as well as a cancer patient and I am simply amazed in regards to the way cancer care is coordinated there. I have not witnessed anything else like it. Initially I was going to be treated at Northwestern, but I am so glad I chose to tour with them to get a second opinion. Their model of medicine is comprehensive, compassionate and unique. Everything is catered around the patient, not the other way around! They are a For Profit organization, so you have to see if your insurance qualifies but they are also working on accepting other forms of payment and helping those with alternative forms of insurance other then private. Everyone from the housekeeper to the nurse practitioner to the physician is on board with the same positive mental attitude and encouraging hope for you to survive! DO NOT believe what others say about nickel and diming you to death in regards to your treatment. This could not be furthest from the truth. They do everything in their power to make your experience affordable including FREE Valet, FREE transportation from the airport, FREE meal vouchers, etc. If I was at Northwestern for as long as my initial treatment was, It would have cost me $1,000 in parking alone, let alone $4 for something to drink! They make accommodations no other institution would make. I was diagnosed right after I had given birth to my son. He was still nursing at the time of surgery. They brought a pack and play in the ICU so I could be with him and even rounded around my breastfeeding schedule! That is when I knew this place was like no other. Their care was tailored around my needs! They believe in a holistic approach to medicine and with their integrative services at Zion like Reiki, Acupuncture, Massage therapy, consultations with the pain clinic and Naturopath, Laugh club, Chaplain services, etc. you prepare your mind, body and spirit for battle. These support services help ease your pain and anxiety as you prepare for the fight of your life! There is even a spa there to get your spirits up! There are hotel accommodations attached directly to the center in case you do not feel up to driving back after treatment. Initially I stayed in the lodging but eventually I would make the drive which was 45 minutes out from where I live, but worth every minute! CTCA schedules their appointments around you! You do not need to hop from department to department on multiple days. You pick a dedicated day and although it may be a long one, you can see every specialist, have every test and supportive therapy, physical therapy and treatment all in one swoop in the same building. Not feeling well after treatment, no worries, pharmacy can come to you! The medical team and nursing staff are top notch! Some of the most intelligent and committed cancer experts are there. The oncologist on staff have one numerous awards for their advances in medicine and commitment to ongoing research and groundbreaking therapies. The way they have engineered their patient centered care is unbelievable, but the best part about it is that they really do CARE about your well being! Cancer is difficult enough without the added stress of dealing with hospitalization and treatment. It is important to pick a treatment center that does not make you feel like a number and has your best interest at hand. This is what they refer to as the “Mother Standard” of care. This is cancer done right!"
"Great, just like the commercials, as long as you're able to pay everything upfront. I received chemo treatment for 10 months then the second my insurance gave them trouble my appointment to see if my brain tumor stopped growing & have my port finally removed was cancelled. They have no problem at all letting me wonder if the last year of chemo worked & leaving this port in my neck. I recommend staying with your local doctor & their suggestions. They have access to same cancer research."
