"Adopted a beautiful American pit. Was told he was in perfect health and had all his vaccinations. Later in the day after adopting him. He showed signs of kennel cough. I went out and bought medicine. It didn't help. Then he really got sick and had severe nose bleeding. I looked at the adoption papers and noticed that he tested positive for heart worms and respiratory infection. When I took him back and asked why they would adopt out an animal that sick? The response was that it was my financial duty to take care of the problem myself/ pay thousands of dollars for a veterinary. Sadly I had to return the dog because I couldn't afford the bills that would ensue. And the staff treated me like a villain because I couldn't afford it. After paying $500 in 1 week to accommodate the dog."
"In love with my new kitten that I got at this shelter but during the adoption process I asked if they all got tested for ringworm and was told they did. Now a couple weeks later my dog has ringworm all over her mouth. My other cat is also infected. Now I have to separate all 3 animals in my 1 bedroom apartment for god knows how long. I’m very disappointed especially because I specifically asked about it before hand Update- I called the shelter and they told me they in fact DIDN’T TEST HIM FOR RINGWORM. So they lied to me about testing him for it and now won’t provide any help because we already took him out of the shelter. And they also tried to tell me that he got it after we brought him home (You can see when you zoom on the kitten picture of the scabs which is from the day we brought him home) and now my bf’s 2 dogs are now infected And I have payed $500 at the vet so far If you’re going to get an animal here I would take it directly to a vet to get checked out and not let it around your other animals."
"The staff here genuinely loves these animals . The living quarters are kept clean and sanitized constantly . So many babies to pick from."
"The people who work at this place should be given gold medals for their OFTEN COMPLETELY volunteer efforts…and they love these animals. You can feel it when the dogs look at the kennel helpers and they never want to look away. If you’re in need of a companion with the right fit for you, come and check out N. Animal Shelter. These babies need homes, and they all are VERY sweet and capable dogs for all they’ve been through. Many are middle aged, but there are some older animals people got rid of because “they got old” and they just need a place to live out their golden years in peace. I plan on going back and helping them out, with volunteer hours as well as see if I can help them out with a few little dogs. Definitely love this place. Definitely will be back for more lovey babies."
