"I initially sought out Mike to lose weight and improve my overall physique before I could no longer do so (getting older!) I felt Mike understood well what I was looking for, but instead of going straight into gym mode, he first did a "movement screen" where he mapped out various parts of my body that, for one reason or the other, did not move as well as it could. Based on this, he tailored a workout routine just for me that was very efficient. Mike is very hands-on in the gym. He will help you correct your form and make minor adjustments that will help you to get the best results. Every time we had a gym session, we would review the plan, make adjustments, and introduce new elements based on my progress in the gym or the homework assigned. Mike makes you feel special; there is nothing cookie-cutter about your training plan. You do everything for a reason, and Mike does a good job explaining why we are doing the exercise we are doing. Between sessions, he would follow up with text messages of encouragement, and since one of my goals was weight loss, he also made me accountable for everything I consumed. 10/10 - I would do it all over again!"
"Training with Mike Groth is the best gift I have ever given myself! I initially sought him out because my doctor recommended heavy strength training as the best way to lose weight, improve my physique and increase bone density. I was a previously doing a lot of barre method and pilates but my body wasn’t changing. I had never lifted weights and, at two years post-partum, after my second child, I was still dealing with diastasis recti and really imbalanced hips. I felt confused about what I could do safely and knew I needed expert guidance. I have now been training with Mike twice per week for the last 15 months. As a busy mom, I don’t have time for barre any more but the difference in my body and my energy with just two days per week at Mike’s gym is staggering. My diastasis recti has completely closed, I’ve converted my excess fat to muscle, eliminated lower back pain, and I feel more confident in a bikini than I have since I was in my 20s. For those of you that are numbers people, my initial deadlift limit was 25lbs for 10 reps and I can now deadlift 95lbs for 20 reps. Mike is patient, incredibly knowledgeable, and prioritizes safety. The changes he has suggested for my diet have been realistic, gradual, and easy to implement. At first I had trouble wrapping my head around paying someone to train me one-on-one because classes were so much cheaper. I didn’t understand that the amount of thought he puts into exactly what I need for my specific body makes training with him a million times more effective than any general class. "Attainable Growth produces awesome results and Mike is a great educator. He is extremely dedicated to his craft and cares a great deal about the people he works with. Coming out of the pandemic, I was sluggish, puffed up, stiff, and overweight. Two years of weekly sessions later my weight had come down, I had noticeable muscle definition, and most importantly my energy levels, confidence, flexibility (especially hip mobility) and physical strength had all lept up tremendously. I personally love working hard when I’m on the clock, and Mike certainly encourages that while looking to help prevent me incurring an injury. During his one hour sessions (according to my heart rate monitor) I burned between 750-1050 calories. Even though I took part in many organized sports throughout my life, Mike was the first trainer I met to logically link together strength, flexibility, longevity, and injury prevention in an accessible philosophy that promotes overall health."
