"Our twin boys have been coming here, and we enjoy it. Doctor always sees us the day we call, and always takes time to talk to us about any of our questions"
"I called today to set a well visit for my son and I was told I had a $68 balance on my account from 2021. I didn’t know what this was for. The office manager called me and stated it was a for a visit that was missed in July 2021 - really $50 for a missed visit from two years that I don’t even recall setting. What’s funny is that I went in the following month for his well visit and this was not brought up to me, I also went in November 2022 for another visit and AGAIN nothing was brought up but when I called today, it was brought randomly up. All the office manager said was “well that girl isn’t here anymore” and that this balance was when they had their old system. I personally don’t think it’s right that I have to pay for a missed appointment from two years ago that I don’t recall setting and when I went in the following month and again in 2022 NOTHING was brought to my attention. It took me calling today for this to come up. I even checked my email and I have received nothing from this office stating that I owed anything. What’s sad is my son has been a patient there for quite sometime, never has missed an appointment and the office manager had no empathy and in fact got snarky with me on the phone. Mind you the last time I visited this location the front desk person was just as rude. Sad to see that this practice has declined in customer service. The principle of the situation is what’s bothering me the most, I never got a “I apologize for the situation, sorry we didn’t bring it up to you as we should have”, it was like “you owe this balance and your son won’t be get seen unless it’s paid”. Sad to know you're going to lose a loyal patient of 10 years over not doing the right thing. It’s not about the money, it’s about the principle."
"I was sick from COVID in the ICU unable to take my kiddos to their doctor appts for a whole hear. I have three, and they are behind on their vaccines well apparently that's an issue and he is unwilling to catch them up now that I am able to take them. So I guess vaccines can't be done? I'm so confused. So dumb. Don't recommend, plus his receptionist crew are so rude."
"Dr. Bruce Lantry is everything! He knows exactly what our kids needs are, he is prompt, and he is ready to answer any and all questions you may have. My husband and I give Dr. Lantry 5 stars. His office staff, however is a different story. We called the office to see about scheduling our sick daughter an appointment on a Monday after having a fever over the weekend. Now, let me be clear when I say I understand their process and procedures are in place for a reason. My complaint has nothing to do with that but everything to do with the disrespectful and condescending tone/ manner in which my husband and I were given from the office staff. One of the office staff members informs us that we will not be able to bring our daughter in until we get a PCR test completed since she had a fever over the weekend. We told them that we got a rapid done at a clinic over the weekend and to please help us understand how if we have to wait 3 more days to get the results, then what would the purpose of us coming to see the doctor at that point. She then responds and says "Well you shouldn't have let your daughters temperature get that high without taking her to the emergency room". We informed her that we did what we were told to from the emergency nurse line that we called. she then tells us I don't know what to tell you and then hangs up on us! So my husband calls back and asks to speak with the office manager. The office manager, Dee gets on the phone with my husband and says "I was sitting right here and I heard the whole conversation" She then begins to justify her office staff talking to us the way she did. We understand that there were answers to our questions that were not able to give us, but we NEVER want to be treated so badly over the phone with guilt about what we should have done as parents and then be hung up on. Not once did they try to empathize, apologize, or simply just be polite on the phone. We really LOVE Dr. Lantry and wish we could take him with us. We are NOT okay with his staff and the way they treated us throughout the years of us being with him. We understand that this may not change anything, but we are hoping that they will have some sort of consideration when speaking to parents about their children of their tone, attitude, and overall professionalism."
"Dr. Lantry is a great pediatrician. I love that he take his time with each patient, listens to your concerns, and give great explanations. Staff is also friendly and so helpful. We have been with First Steps since moving to San Antonio 5 years ago and he came highly recommended."
