"My experiences with multiple employees of this hospital have all been extremely disconcerting. I was taken to the ER in 2008 for a work injury, I had severely burned my hand. I was treated like a burden by the staff, there was zero compassion. After sitting in a bed for awhile with my hand in cool water and given pain meds, they wrapped my hand, handed me my paperwork, bag, and coat, (which was difficult to carry in my current condition,) and told me to walk to the drug testing lab. The wrap made the burning feel so much worse, I was struggling to carry everything, and could not find the drug lab. I was in so much pain, and felt so mistreated, I gave up and sat on a bench in the hallway. When staff found me, they were very frustrated, took me to what seemed like a closet, and interrogated me, as if I was drug seeking. I had supposedly already been given morphine, but my drug test results did not verify that I received it. Fast forward to now, I am attempting to acquire my medical records from this location, and it has been challenging. I received a missed call from the hospital, they left no message. When I called back, I spoke to the person handling the records, who was actually nice, but she said she could not find the records. She had been misreading the date of service. She said she would look for the correct date and call me back if she couldn't find anything. I missed another call a week later, again no message. When I call back the next day, I am passed to multiple people, each sounding irritated to have to talk to me, and defensively denying having called me or have any record of anyone calling me. (I'm not an aggressive person, I inquired politely about the missed call, there was no reason for the attitudes I received.) Finally one of them backtracks and says she sees that someone did call and sent the records in the mail yesterday, she said that there appeared to be a discrepancy because they had my birthdate wrong. Then, minutes later, the nicer woman that I spoke to the week before, called to let me know that she was the one who had called, she found the records and sent them yesterday. She then proceeded to ask a lot of questions to verify that they were in fact the correct records... even though she has already put them in the mail. Yikes. Hopefully I receive them and can be done with this saga, but I have my doubts that I won't have to continue going back and forth with them."
"Worst treatment for an ER. My girlfriend was hard time breathing, edema, etc. Nurse was rude, uncaring, and was hurting her. She had to wait for a long time just to be sent home. She could be having heart failure and not been checked."
"My daughter was having severe abdominal cramping and vomiting that was not getting better. It took a bit to get back to a room. The visit was slow, but they got busy and I am sure like most places are short staffed. Nurses were great, vampire lady was awesome, in all most people were pleasant, just slow to get things back. They had to rule out covid and flu before looking into other things so it just took a bit to get done. Place is in need of some updates, but things were clean and organized. It is often a thankless job that is high stress and they seemed in good spirits for the most part."
"Currently here at the moment (7/27/23). Extremely speedy intake, placed in room, tested for many things and results have came in a short matter of time. Customer service with all medical staff has been amazing!"
"Got misdiagnosed for appendicitis and something else and was sent to iowa city. Called the ambulance within telling me or asking my opinion.I could ve drove myself to Iowa city. Nurses and Dr has absolutely no sense of urgency. Had lab results showed in the app , but nurse still came 15 mn and said they were still waiting on lab. Almost got my appendix removed because of ignorant doctor and inefficient nurse. Im a RN myself. Not everyone that sit in your chair as a patient has zero medical knowledge. Thanks God, i asked iowa city for new labs and diagnostic tests. Ill def stay away from Muscatine ER. 1/2 dont know what they doing. Advocate for yourself and get second opinion if things donโt sound right."
