Reviews
"It's unfortunate I'm having to write such a terrible review, but I genuinely hope this saves someone in the future. - I chose this law firm as a support agency for my bankruptcy process. I was given a timeframe of 3 to 6 months in regard to start and finish. During the process, I spoke with a woman named Pamela. I didn't know and still, don't know her position within the law firm, but she was the main person handling my account. There was a moment when, I had to educate Ms. Pamela regarding back taxes as she mentioned, "Taxes can't be discharged in a Chapter 7." - I found, through my own research, that taxes older than 2 years have the capacity of discharge. I brought this to her attention, and she had to confirm my findings with the attorney, as the attorney confirmed, my findings were accurate. Even though my findings were accurate, Ms. Pamela still, did not, submit my notice of bankruptcy to the appropriate tax departments; I am still in communication with them, personally, in order to discharge my back taxes. Another moment: Ms. Pamela stated she would send me the Schedules of Discharge via email. I never received them. I had to drive an hour to pick up the schedules and even that process wasn't explained to me in detail. When it came time for my 341 Meeting, nothing was explained to me outside of, "Call this number and they'll ask you a few questions." - I had to again, drive an hour to file out a form, days before my meeting to which, I felt rushed. I didn't understand the questions on the form and when I asked, Ms. Pamela seemed to rush her explanation. After the meeting, there was no follow up so, I took the initiative to contact the agencies that I owe regarding back taxes. They mentioned, "We haven't received anything, and your case is still open." I then contact the law office, spoke with Ms. Pamela and she mentioned, "It'll take 8 to 9 months to complete." That wasn't the original time frame I was given. Much more has transpired, but I'd like to keep this as brief as possible. I'd like to believe, this law office is excellent with all other cases, but when it comes to bankruptcy; choose elsewhere. Please."
"I initially contacted this office on June 28th regarding a time sensitive matter. I was given a consult date of July 19th. My appointment was for 12:30. I was informed that the attorney would call me back at 1. I did not receive a phone call from the admin assistant until 430 pm. Only to be informed that the attorney is preparing for trial and it would be a 2 day trail. When I inquired about my matter being time sensitive I was told it would be best to look for another attorney"
"After discussing my matter with over 15 attorneys throughout Houston, Shelly Davis-Smith was my light. If you seek a courteous and honest response, take the time to set an appointment. You will be provided with valuable and timely information."
"I contacted Davis law firm in Feb when my son was hit by a car. It is now June and we have been told the same thing, no new information on his case. After enduring 7 surgeries. Davis law firm insured him they would help him get some therapy so he can learn to walk again. Its been a month and we have heard anything from the office. After several calls and emails no response. I regret hiring this law firm to represent my son during such tragic times. This accident and worried about this lawyer is causing my son major depression I've have never met face to face she says due to covid. Never offer a zoom meeting I thought I was hiring a firm with integrity. But I am sadly mistaken."
"My ex-husband filed for chapter 13 bankruptcy shortly after getting a divorce. I became a creditor for my divorce demand. I got a referral about Ms. Shelly from my divorce attorney. She did help locate ex-husband's bankruptcy case and got me some court records. I really wanted to have her as my creditor bankruptcy attorney but she stopped responding to my phone calls and emails and literally went MIA. I had to find other attorney (this attorney was a lot better tbh) and luckily submitted all the documents I needed to even though I don't get any single penny from my husband. She is very unprofessional and bad at communication. I don't recommend her."
