"I had my six dogs (and my son's two dogs when he visits town) with Dr. Moore's clinic, Lone Star Animal Hospital. Over the year, I have easily spent over 10K on EKGs (three dogs), multiple surgeries, dental work, various tests and meds at Lone Star. Additionally, I referred three customers to Dr. Moore's business. And I never asked for free nail trims for the referrals, as I was glad to do it for her. For perspective, about me, I was a certified facilitator/arbitrator, small business owner for 18+ years, retired colonel, senior Federal Auditor for 13+ years, and, for forever, an animal lover. One day, I asked Dr. Moore to send my dog's food prescription into VetSource so I could use the convenience of the free delivery service. And here is why I wrote the 1-star review on Dr. Moore's practice. 1 - First the staff said they wouldn't do it as they'd be on hold with VetSource, and that'd take up their time. Also, they'd never used VetSource before. They don't know the process. Okay, so I called VetSource. They picked up on the first ring. VetSource said the process is simple: vet (staff) calls, they provide the vet their email, vet (staff) sends script into them by email. VetSource must have the URL on the vet's email to confirm the legitimacy of the order. Easy! Right? 2 - I called back and explained the process. And still, I got push back until the clerk said she'd have to talk to Dr. Moore. Great! Progress. When Dr. Moore called, I explained the process. 3 - With irritation in her voice, she said it will be an inconvenience for her to have to call a food prescription in, have her waste her time on hold, and, have to repeat this process every month to renew it... just for one customer. My brain was reconciling her comments. 1st, the system will be established one time with VetSource. 2d, the staff sends in the renewal by email. 3rd, it's an annual script. 4 - Then she offered to email my the dog's prescription, saying, that I can send it to VetSource, or, "if it's just about delivery" you can use their source, Hill to Hill. (Later, I looked up Hill to Hill. The price for an 8.5 pd bag of Kd dog food (same brand) was $10 more than the $49 bag she sold.) I explained, again, that they wouldn't accept a URL that wasn't from a veterinary. 5 - With a huff (yes, a huff), she said, "Well, for you, I'll do this once, but this is a big inconvenience. And only, this one time. As it was not going the way I had envisioned, I apologized for inconveniencing her and her staff and never meant to cause such a problem. And, I offered to continue to buy the food through her vet. 6 - Calmer now, Dr. Moore said, "Well, I can email you the script and you can email it to VetSource, and just see how it works." To drop the discussion, I said, "Okay. Sure. Send the script. Really appreciate it." 7 - Dr. Moore returned to her kindly manner and was very happy. After thoughtful consideration, I moved over to Austin Diagnostic Veterinary Hospital. But, Dr. Moore had to have the last say... except for the say of my review, and my say of the verbal warnings that I now give out freely to all dog/cat/pet owners... ...On March 1, 2024, my new vet called Lone Star for a copy of the heart meds on Charlie. Lone Star staff denied ever prescribing Spencer heart meds. Well, I had the bottle of Dr. Moore's prescription and got it filled. - I understand that it is against the law for prior vets to withhold treatment/prescription records on your pet. - Further, Dr. Moore's unprofessional action shows a severe, lack of integrity... to lie and deny the records. Out of curiosity, as I got the meds already refilled, I tested the portal to see if I could retrieve my dog's medical records. Dr. Moore canceled my access to my portal. But it's all good. 1 - I got the order filled by my new vet, 2 - The dog script food is on a free, scheduled delivery, 3 - It's cheaper through Austin Diagnostic Hospital Veterinary, 4 - Dr. Moore is out of the picture. Cheers! Vicky"
"the NICEST staff!! referred here by my mom and sooo happy!! Taking such good care of my pup and makes me feel so confident / comfortable too. My dog is very scared of the vet, so finding a vet who is gentle with my dog makes me so happy!"
"Top notch clinic. From even before we got our puppies Lone Star was there to advise on our questions and concerns. As our puppies grew the care and patience of the entire team was seen at each and every visit. Clean, professional and kind. They want what is best for the animals. Thank you Lone Star!"
"Dr. Moore is the kindest and most compassionate vet I’ve met. She does an incredible job of giving you as much or as little information as you need and recommending treatment and care that she would give to her own pets. Her staff is friendly, knowledgeable and always willing to do whatever it takes to make our pets comfortable. I can’t recommend Dr. Moore and Lone Star Animal Hospital enough, we are so fortunate to have found them!"
"We love Dr Moore! She’s taken such good care of our two small dachshunds over the last few years. Her prices are fair and she’s such a calm presence for the nervous pups. Plus the office is clean and tidy - always. We’re patients for life."
