"Their improper care led to the death of my cat, Pixie. I strongly urge anyone who cares for their pets to please take them elsewhere. Like anyone wanting the best for their pet, I enrolled my cat Pixie in a Optimum Wellness Plan which includes a "comprehensive exam" every six months and dental cleaning once a year. For the first three years of her life, all was well and I was a consistent customer that trusted them with my pet's health. But in 2023 in March, glucose was found in Pixie's urine as part of her comprehensive exam, and I was not informed (the result was quite high, at 250). The Veterinarian at the time also didn't inform me of this abnormality, nor did she take any precautions or do anything for follow-up. I was told she was in good health and went on with life. Until November of 2023, wherein Pixie stopped using the litterbox all of a sudden. Suspiciously, her urine was foul in odor and oddly sticky in consistency. I relayed my concerns about a possible UTI, and was told by the front desk worker who checked her in "It doesn't sound like a UTI, but we'll check her out". A few hours later, I was called over the phone by a technician (NOT the Veterinarian on the record for the visit, but another employee there) and informed that Pixie did have a UTI, that she was given Convenia for it, which should last her two weeks. What they didn't tell me--and what I didn't realize until after the next time I took her in--is that she ALSO had a urine glucose of 500, with "Trace" ketones in her urine, which are BOTH strong signs of an underlying problem of diabetes. Despite this significant abnormality in her urine, Banfield did not check her bloodwork. The Veterinarian that 'took care of her' did not talk to me that day at all; I paid and picked her up without seeing the Vet herself at all. I was not informed of these abnormalities. She wasn't treated for them. Two weeks later to the day, on 12/12/2023, I took her back because her UTI, while it had cleared up, had begun to return, and Pixie never returned to using the litterbox. She was only THEN diagnosed with diabetes by a third Veterinarian. Though again I wasn't told by them, it was by a tech over the phone, who told me they would speak to me more about it in person. When I arrived in person I was given the bill, asked to pay, given a small bag with a liver pill and an insulin bottle, and no syringes with which to actually administer the insulin with. It took me specifically requesting to speak to the doctor in order to see them face to face, and it was only THEN that they bothered to explain how you give an insulin shot (imagine if I'd left and not known already you needed syringes). During that same conversation I expressed concern about her weight, which even in their own system when the doctor pulled it up they had not updated and reweighed her, and upon doing so, she'd lost over half a pound within the span of two weeks--and she was already at the lowest weight she'd ever been at 7.17 in November, down to 6.5 two weeks later. The doctor assured me that the insulin would help fix this. 24 hours later Pixie began to decline, vomiting, developing excessive thirst, and missing her midnight meal. The next morning (now 48 hours later) she missed a second meal, refused all food and water, and was visibly weak and withdrawn. She had to be put to sleep because she was in DKA, despite following the Veterinarian's exact instructions to give her 1 unit of insulin every 12 hours, and despite her not even eating for 24 hrs. If you value your pet's life, don't take them here. Their "wellness plan" that they tout as preventative care did nothing to prevent, or find, her underlying condition of diabetes until it was critical to her health, and their treatment for it at that time was insufficient to manage her health for even *two days* when they had scheduled a follow-up visit for a glucose curve a week out. And the best part? They called me to tell me they'd follow up, never did, and are forcing me to pay for a "wellness plan" even knowing my cat is dead."
"So very awesome! Staff were understanding and very helpful, Dr Oesch is amazing and was very patient with our pup."
"They will never take you in when your dog gets sick out of the blue! They always use their favorite line, “The doctor is doing a surgery and/or procedure on another dog!” You can have the plan there and they still won’t help you. They make you feel helpless and you have to go spend money elsewhere to get help for your pet. They don’t have true passions for working with animals. They suck!!! Get your dog in at a veterinarian that you and your pets can have a relationship with!!!"
"Wonderful, We took my baby, my siamese kitty Bella because she had a serious tail injury. They diagnosed her with "pulled tail". She was treated quickly, with lots of attention from the Vet. My kitty that is normally stressed to be anywhere but home, was calm and relaxed when I picked her up. She has almost recovered full use of her tail. We love our vet. The clinic front desk lacks alot though, recently I went in to get catfood, I decided to stop and make an appointment for Bella. I walked up, the girl was not busy. She totally ignored me. Not one word. I checked my watch, I stood there over 30 seconds without even a greeting. I said hello to her, and she held up her finger waving it at me. I walked away. I now make my appointments online, sad that she gets away with it, I wish I would have got her name.....oh well. If Banfield wants to know, look up James Davis on Poe St., It was my last visit."
"This morning I am reminded one of many reasons why we stopped using Banfield all those years ago. And it looks like nothing has changed. Bait and switch. They quoted me $200 plus over the phone. I take time out of my morning, gather my poor cat in her carrier making her very nervous. Wait, wait and more waiting just to have them now say my price is $700. RIDICULOUS INCOMPETENT IDIOTS!!!"
