"I wish I could give less than 1 star for this place. I went into see a counselor and at the end of the session, she literally pulled out a cute little note pad that looked like a "baby's first prescription pad," wrote down three verses, said "take once daily" and then winked at me. Another person I know went in for counseling and the head of the counseling center suggested he read the books of some pretty far right christian authors (I believe Jordan Peterson was mentioned at some point). This place is as unethical as they come, this is my warning to stay away from this place and the church it's attached to."
"Have I never given a review!? Tonight seems like an awesome time to do so. This counseling center is the best. You won’t find a better one in Austin if you are looking to be counseled in Biblical truth. Can’t thank the counselors here enough for all of the help, love, and truth I have received here."
"I see a counselor mainly for depression and this has been my best counseling experience. In the past at other places i've had some well meaning counselors start our session off by asking "Are you sad?" Their pity felt belittling and I felt misunderstood. At the Austin Stone Counseling center I believe the counselors care and are interested in helping people implement healthy coping mechanisms in their daily life. It's also refreshing to have a counselor that values care on a wholistic level: physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. I wish they were able to process health insurance, but I still go because my provider (Blue Cross Blue Shield) is able to reimburse most of my out of pocket counseling expenses."
"I have been going to The Austin Stone Counseling Center for years, and was really excited when their new location was going to be close to my workplace. The pros: -Beautiful lobby including a calm environment while you're waiting that provides coffee, water, reading material, even adult coloring books while you're waiting. -Your experience may differ, but I have personally enjoyed my experience with my counselor and she has been so helpful in working out the topics that I share with her about. I have definitely felt listened to and cared for under her care. The cons: - Scheduling can be difficult if you do not plan in advance. I do have to plan about 2 weeks ahead of time for my next appointment, this can be mitigated by planning several appointments ahead. They do have an online scheduling system in addition to phone service but the interface is a little clunky. Nevertheless, I highly recommend anyone to make an appointment at the counseling center! Also as a note, their philosophy on counseling is based on biblical principles, but you do not have to be a Christian to work with one of their counselors!"
"I cannot say enough good things about the Austin Stone Counseling. Solid, Biblically sound, counseling by any one of their trained staff. They counselors are there to give you skills, but also they care about your heart and pray for you and invest in your relationship with God."
