"I know there are a variety of clinicians that work here, but I can say that my experiences with Maeve Larkin have been 5 stars. Even in just a few weeks, she has been so incredibly helpful - one of the best counselors I think I have ever seen. I'm so grateful for my sessions here."
"Their “top” clinician Shana Alexander asked me in a middle of a bad session why I was even in therapy if I didn’t want to change. I definitely do and I figured dbt would be able to help push me past my terrible defense mechanism. They however preach they have the skills to help you fix your “therapy destroying techniques”. Did no such thing. Then gave up in trying to give me another provider and instead wanted me to work in their group program which legit will not provide me any success. I need complete trust and privacy. Unskilled clinician. ."
"I found this company when I moved to austin last year and needed to find a new therapist for my borderline personality disorder and CPTSD issues. I started seeing Emma last November and it was the best decision I’ve ever made for my mental health. I’ve seen her almost every week since then and I have improved so significantly in the past year, more than I’ve ever done with any other form of therapy or therapist in the 18 years I’ve been receiving psychiatric care. The level of care and compassion and kindness I’ve gotten from Emma has been exponentially better than any therapist I’ve seen in the past. Her professional advice and support has meant the world to me and my recovery. I just can’t thank her enough for the continued care I’ve received over the past year and anyone who’s had a bad experience with DBT or has heard horror stories or just bad experiences with therapist seriously needs to give this company a chance. For self pay the prices are well worth it and the healing I’ve been able to do is worth every penny and then some. I can not thank this company, and especially Emma, has done for me this past year. I look forward to continuing my healing journey with Emma and encouraging others to do the same."
"I've been going for over a month and I love my therapist. I had a very bad experience (seriously worse than what reviews have been written here) with a previous therapist from another practice. However, my new therapist at DBT Associates has been caring, kind, compassionate, and an advocate for my healthcare. She has promptly completed paperwork for my employer and has kept me accountable for my targets. Not going to lie - it is pricey. That said, I have insurance so that plays a part. They also offer affordable group therapy about 7 days a week. Group therapy is great because it provides structure and you may follow along with the DBT workbook. I'm not going to take away points because of the price. If you can afford it, definitely recommend. There is more than one therapist so if you don't mesh well with one (or vice versa), they will pair you with another."
"Nice office and group was helpful. Their financial accommodations were all helpful but she kept pushing me to come weekIy and I just couldn't afford that. The ndividual sessions were a waste. She was an intern who pushed her agenda over my needs. She was very focused on knowing more than everyone, sharing her feelings and kept trying to put me in a box that didn't fit for me but probably fit her "theories." I wouldn't recommend the interns who say they have experience but really don't know enough to help."
