"Ive been seeing Rachel Brown for around a year, I can honestly say I haven't taken much from our appointments. She's very nonchalant with her approach. She doesn't give any take aways with sessions. It's as if you leave feeling like there's no solution/never going to get better and she chalks it up to you not "doing the work", which I'm still unclear of what that work ever was supposed to be. No behavioral change suggestions, she never even once checked up on me in this whole year- even when my appointments got canceled for a month because of HER schedule change. Unfortunately with therapists, we feel afraid to leave because we blame ourselves for not improving when sometimes it's not our fault. There are other therapists out there who DO give you suggestions and DO help you reach your goals in AND out of therapy. And they also care enough to reach out when they haven't heard from you. Those are the good ones."
"First impression was the welcoming and attractive waiting area. I've been to a few other counseling centers and this one, by far, is the most professional and efficient one. It was easy making an appointment, and easy to reschedule when needed. I highly recommend Kingwood Counseling!"
"I’m not one to ever do this but this was just a very negative interaction. Never confirmed my appointment. They still charged me for my appointment. The lady I spoke with was incredibly rude and said they sent ‘reminders for appointments not confirmation requests. I told her I have all the messages not one was confirmed therefore I should not be charged. She then rudely said she’d my account to see what they’d sent. Then I said, I assumed that since I never once confirmed my appointment it would be cancelled just like ANY other her doctor office. She quickly said, yeah, don’t ever assume. She then stopped talking altogether, and did not confirm that she saw they did indeed send me confirmations. She said no they were just meant as reminders. No. There was a confirm button and a link in every message. This person was incredibly rude and this practice was so shifty."
"They are not transparent about their billing system AT ALL! I missed an appointment totally by accident, and called them within seconds of receiving their voicemail. Rescheduled. When i was on the phone explaining i missed the appointment by accident, the receptionist said “oh no ma’am your appointment was at X time I’m sorry! We can go ahead and get your rescheduled.” Great! About 5 seconds after I got off the phone with her i get a $60 charge on my credit card from their office. I called back, and asked why she didn’t tell me they would be charging me for the missed appointment. She said because she didn’t have to, i signed the form. I then explained to her i understand that, but it’s basic professionalism and customer service practices that you should at least tell someone you’re charging them a fee for something especially if you already have them on the phone. She again reiterated that she didn’t have to say anything to me, and she then transferred me to the therapist to discuss it. She did apologize for the lack of customer service, and said “looks like I’ll see you on ___ date, let me know if you need anything between now and then.” To which i responded, no ma’am i will not be coming in, because you all just charged me what i would have paid for 2 visits! And she said “okay well just call us to reschedule when things get better” Moral of the story, i would have been fine with the charge. IF they would have cared enough to be transparent and honest about what the fee. I signed those forms a month ago, and any realistic person knows that nobody remembers what they said on the forms after a few days. I was never given copies of those forms to reference, nor was i reminded of the fee when this all happened. Nor did they care. All because “they don’t have to”.. glad to know you go above and beyond for the people who came to you for help! Update- The administrator reached out to me and rectified the issue of the fee, and claimed to have reprimanded the rude employee."
"They cancelled three appointments in a row for my son without notifying us (and the receptionist had the audacity to argue with me 'her system shows it was only one session that was cancelled'). Then after three weeks of not getting his therapy, my son's counselor quit and they didn't have the courtesy to call us to let us know. Now the new therapist is booked for another three weeks before she can see him for the first time. Finally after seeing his new counselor after waiting three weeks, they tell us they can't get him in for his next appointment for two months! Are you kidding me! Awful experience. This is a mental health clinic. Their lack of concern for their patients well being and their lack of professionalism is unbelievable. Do not recommend."
