Tender Hearts Child Therapy Center - Child Counseling & Family Counseling

"I have had nothing but difficulties with this office since we started coming. First, I had a counselor that over booked her schedule & my daughter was canceled on without any communication. We switched counselors & we’re content with the counseling services we were provided. However, the British woman who works at the front desk is constantly harassing us when my children (ages 2 & 8 months) are waiting in the waiting room. I am a pediatric RN & so I’m fully aware of what is developmentally appropriate for a 2 year old. This woman acts like it’s outrageous when my 2 year old has a melt down or is testing her limitations and boundaries by running down the long hallway. I do my best to keep this from occurring, but as most people who have a toddler knows, they are very fast & unpredictable. Sadly, due to the harassment we will no longer be seeking counseling services through tender hearts. This place should be a safe place for children & families. Why have a toy area in your waiting room if you expect complete silence & optimal behavior at all times? Those are unrealistic expectations. Another family that is often waiting at the same time has experienced the same thing with being scolded for typical child behaviors & has made numerous comments as well. If you expect complete silence then you should make a rule that they family must wait in the car, or at least put a baby gate up in the hallway, as it’s very tempting to toddlers to run down a long hall. Super disappointed."

"Was at Tender Hearts with my grandson (who is seen there) and my 7 yr old grand daughter.. we were in the lobby waiting when one lady counselor (Marcia Smith) who SUPPOSEDLY specializes in children comes out with a bucket if suckers... She gives one to her clients siblings...My granddaughter ask her POLITELY for sucker... She looked at her and totally ignored her request.... She and her clients walk outside when she returned she looked at my granddaughter and said THESE ARE FOR CLIENTS .MAYBE YOUR SIBLING WILL BRING YOU ONE!!!! REALLY!!!! THIS WOMAN WORKS WITH KIDS!!!!! SHE HURT MY GRANDDAUGHTER FEELINGS WiTH NO REGARD .... so happy this woman doesn't COUNSEL OR GIVE ADVICE/COUNSEL ETC my child!!!! VERY RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL"

"Easy to schedule an appointment. Was able to get in to see a counselor quickly. Everyone I spoke to from the person who scheduled the appointment to the counselor were professional and caring people. Very pleased with the counselor my child was scheduled with. Would definitely recommend to others."

They are open later in the evenings and even on Saturdays which makes counseling services easy to fit into anyone’s schedule.
