"I've utilized the tram (train) only one time, so I cannot give an honest opinion about the pros and cons. I will say that the service is very limited, as it only covers a small area of Austin city limits and a very smaller area of some of its suburbs. The bus service isn't too bad. It's no where as extensive as cities in the northeast, but for the most patrons can get to where they need to get to without having to wait an hour in-between for most bus lines. There are some areas within Austin city limits where there aren't any bus routes. The eye sore of the bus line is that from time to time the mentally ill, and substance abusers come on the buses and create a ruckus with their outbursts. There's been quite a bit of instances where law enforcement had to be called to get a patron off the bus, or go track them down after they've fled. Mental health is a very big issue in the city and one which unfortunately isn't taken very serious in conservative run states where funding for facilities and programs have been shifted elsewhere, or have been non existent to begin with. With a city whose population is constantly growing public health has to play a part in the plan for city growth because it effects the quality of life for everyone. "My car has been having issues so thought, let me try the bus to see it will work for me. It does for stop locations, but the bus, as reliable transportation, is a no-go. Allow me to explain why… Two days ago, it was running late and to make up time, it just drove by me as I waited at the stop 4649, so I got a Lyft because of the 100 degree heat. Today, there wasn’t a bus that came through at the 4:34pm time slot like it said it would and I got here 12 minutes early so it wouldn’t have been because it passed by early so I’m hoping the 5:09pm one is coming through. The 5:09pm came through and the bus-driver mentioned that if it didn’t come through, it’s because they are down drivers, which is understandable, and I’m not mad about CapMetro being short-staffed because it’s an issue in many occupations. What’s not understandable is not notifying Google maps about route changes so we can plan accordingly rather than have us wait in 100 degree heat or lose jobs like a previous post I read. I gave them 3 stars instead 1 because the morning bus routine seems solid and the drivers are experienced, nice, and timely. So I decided I will look at buying a new car rather than rely on public transportation."

"Had a bus driver to tell me to pay when I'm a child and can ride for free on bus 1. Luckily they weren't forceful at all but cmon common sense especially when it's posted inside the bus. She also claimed i was with some other 2 guys i dont even know i think they go to my school but still i was wearing a school computer bag i think you can tell I'm a child.Other than that the bus rides are fine but sometimes take long to show up like yesterday I missed it by 1 min bc of the light and then the bus showed up half an hr later."
