Candlewood Suites Ofallon, IL - St. Louis Area, an IHG Hotel

"Our freezer is not cooling. I called after we arrived to let you know and was told, "I'll let maintenance know". Hours later, nothing. There is clearly no intention of maintenance or the front desk acting on this issue. The purpose of booking a Candlewood Suites is to use the kitchen. There are many reviews at this location regarding the ice and freezers not operating. The front desk is definitely aware and annoyed by complaints on the ongoing maintenance issue. We have driven 10 hours away and stayed at other Candlewood Suites along this trip. This location pales in comparison to those in terms of quality and customer service. I would never recommend this location. If this were the first Candlewood I stayed at, I would think they were bad hotels in general."

"Rooms essentially are really good. My room however didn't have an icemaker in the fridge and there is no icemaker available otherwise. No breakfast provided while all the surrounding hotel do. So for price and the amenities in a room it's very much worth it."

"Overall the hotel is basic. Met our needs, but not a lot more. Checked in without a reservation on a Monday & the front desk could not meet the online price , but the clerk tried to meet it by going around their program which got the price down & we appreciate her efforts. No breakfast or any extra frills."

"The location is conveniently close to the interstate, gas station, fast foods, Walmart, and Sam's. The room looked decent but wasn't in keeping with a typical IHG standard. Staff was cordial, but blundered when checking me in and appeared burdened to check me out. The price was the best in the entire STL area though."

"Pros: Super nice staff and a great property for dog walking. Loved the little pond behind the building. Spacious rooms. Cons: the entire hotel smells. Like bad. I don’t know what it is. The lobby smelled like bottom-shelf tequila. The hallways and rooms? I can’t identify that smell. But it’s bad. The AC unit looked so gross that I didn’t want to breathe near it. There were a couple of people sleeping in their cars on the property. Wasn’t a fan of that. We paid the pet fee but I found the fee too much for such a smelly room."
