Reviews of Melton Truck Lines Inc. - El Paso Terminal
"I’m very disappointed because I wanted to work for this company .kind of crazy the recruiter came all the way to Phoenix and promised students they had room as soon as you graduated to give your information just to be solicited of job openings and opportunities but after graduating n when I called there was over a month of waiting and who want to wait that long kinda defeats the purpose or believing them that they have the best pay in the industry and how they immediately accepts new graduates I worked hard to get to a class A license and I honestly hate giving my information out and soon as I did my information seem to get sold cause I get all these crazy emails make me wanna try other companies that are truthful up front"
"Aaron is a great guy, and kind of a big deal. He has many leather bound books, and the office smells of rich mahogany. He and his crew direct drivers with incredible grace and skill, like muscular trapeze artists. I had an excellent overnight, and enjoyed a delicious bag of twix candies."
"Small Melton terminal. Friendly staff that is quick on the turn around for loading and unloading. Accomodations include hot showers, bathrooms, vending machines and a drivers lounge consisting of a large TV, coupe of comfy recliners, and additional tables and chairs for dinning."
"New drivers, stay away! Apply to a company that’s willing to invest in your training and help you grow, don’t go with Melton and waste your time. I was recruited by Melton at the trucking school. I had several conversations with the recruiter about requirements and what to expect at orientation. I had concerns about a few social media videos I saw on how Melton’s orientation is like an apprenticeship, they bring 50 or so drivers every week and can let you go for any reason even if you pass all the requirements due to numbers of spots they have available at the time. I was told to not worry and as long as I pass the road test, the DOT physical, the drug screen, and kept a professional attitude that I will get a truck. I decided to apply since they had good reputation for hiring veterans. They flew me to Tulsa, OK and provided a hotel room. I passed all the “requirements” on the first week, but was let go on week 2 because I did not have enough skills for backing. The instructor that let me go told me that he sees this every week, and it’s the CDL’s school fault for not providing drivers with proper training. He suggested to apply to a company down the street, get the experience and come back in six months because I had great work ethic and want to see me back. Melton, if you see this every week then why are you recruiting people fresh out of trucking school with no experience and then letting them go for not having enough experience/skills?? Makes no sense. The truck driving schools job’s is to get us licensed not trained. If you’re not willing to train or invest in beginner drivers then don’t recruit students in trucking schools. Not sure if they had more people than they expected by week 2 and only had certain spots available due to not having enough trainers and it’s being their slow season, maybe it’s because they don’t like female drivers (was told less than 5% of their drivers are females), and used my lack of skills as an excuse, but either way I do not recommend and no I won’t go back in six months after I gain the experience that you were not willing to give me."
"Would be nice if this place had a lobby and better showers. Now that it's raining, there's mud everywhere. Hopefully in time they will be able to upgrade it like the one in Tulsa."
