"My son has been here since Kindergarten and now is in 5th grade. The best experience I have ever had with a school. There are goods and bads with everything but the good always outways the bad at Brentwood. If your looking for a great education for your kids and a great community (if you want to be involved) than this is the place you want to be."
"We moved from California when it became apparent that our small private school there was closing. No way my kids were going to Public schools in California. After searching nationwide we relocated to Austin because of BCS. We both left solid careers there to move here. Now that both kids are graduates of BCS we do not regret rebuilding careers here and living here. We moved here 12 years ago. BCS continues to grow and improve."
"My daughter is now in the 10th grade and has attended BCS since K. We have always felt truly blessed to have her there. Everyone in the school has had a hand in helping develop her into the young woman that she is today. The staff is wonderful and has always been available to us when we have needed anything. Completely supportive! Is it a perfect school? No, but I don't think that any school (or person) is perfect. Do things occasionally not go exactly as I would like them to? Of course, but it is usually because I am a parent and am concerned with my child and they have hundreds of children to be concerned with. Do I recommend the school to others? Hands down, the answer is YES! Yes, if you want a God centered education. Yes, if you want concerned and loving teachers. Yes, if you want your child to be ready for life outside the school."
"The sign up process is a bit of an issue if your dealing with getting your kid into Kindergarten. As for the education and experience it is top rate. The school doesn't mess around when it comes to enforcing uniform policies and my kids are not going to school for a fashion show so I like that aspect of it. BCS is 'old school' using proven methods of classroom instruction - no tablets and video games outside of dedicated computer classrooms. The proof is in the pudding and test scores are pretty high on average out this school, along with scholarships and college enrollment. The Bible is taught practically here, and while some attending may not believe, the principles in the Bible are pretty universal throughout life. You have to volunteer at the school to help keep tuition lower, which I like as well. The performing arts auditorium is high end and the school seems to emphasize arts over athletics, although several of the athletic teams do make regional / state levels (the baseball coach just passed over 300 wins and isn't that old). I feel extremely blessed that my kids get to go here."
"We paid $700 in February, 2013 for our two children to apply to BCS. There is a $125 application fee per child and a $225 enrollment fee per child. When we applied we asked about the application process and were never given a clear answer as to when we would know if we got in and what our chances of getting in were. We were very concerned that no one could give us a straight answer about our chances of getting in. In April, I contacted BCS and was told there were no spots for my children. We knew when we applied that the $125 application fee was non-refundable and the $225 enrollment fee is only refunded if your child is not offered a spot. However, they have until the first day of school to offer you a spot and if you turn it down they can keep the entire enrollment fee. I contacted BCS in June and was again told there were no spots available so I let them know I would need to enroll my kids in a different school. In July, they called and said they had created spots for my children and would now be keeping the enrollment fee for both kids (again, this is after they knew that we had enrolled them in another school). Our experience with the private, Christian school our kids are now enrolled in was completely different. Everything was very above board and transparent and we were only charged the application fee until our children were actually enrolled in the school. BCS did not have to do a single thing with our applications (no checking references, no ordering school records) and yet they get to keep $700? The entire process left a bad taste in our mouths. At this point I feel like we are lucky we did not entrust them to educate our children. I advise future families to use great caution when applying to this school."
