"Visited the planetarium for the Open Elgin architectural tour. We have driven by this many times and just now found this gem! It was built by Elgin Watch Company to fully synchronize their watches. The original telescope and observatory can be observed, but no longer function. The planetarium does still offer regular skyshows, including two in May anticipating next year's solar eclipse. Thanks to the volunteers who hosted and welcomed us! #OE2023"
"Interesting seeing the observatory as there isn’t much remaining from the original Elgin Watch Company. Only able to see the building from the outside as it wasn’t open when we were there."
