"Jewel often has outrageously expensive produce, but they do occasionally have great sales. However, these sales are somewhat of a bait-and-switch, as they require that you use their app to get the sale price. The problem is the difficulty getting on the app. I was checking out, and they refused to give me the sale price without getting the coupon from the app. The checkout person tried using the app on my mobile to get the coupon, but could not do it. So he was then going to charge me the extremely high normal price for the products. I said no, and they had to unbag the produce and erase the charges. I then went next store to Tony's on North Greenwood Ave. in Niles and purchased the same produce for the same price, no app required."

"I shopped there today, and did not have a good experience. They offered sales on cantaloupes and raspberries. However, they required me to get on the app on my mobile to get a coupon, which turned out to be a real hassle (e.g., multiple security steps to log on). Also, their produce prices can be through the roof. They were charging over $2 for 1 red, yellow or orange pepper. I went next door to Tony's, and got the same prices or much better ($3.44 for 3 peppers), without the hassle of having to get on their app."

"Me and my husband had just walked into the store, when we noticed police cars outside. The policemen were obviously looking for somebody and eyeing us very specifically so we automatically knew they were looking for somebody black because that is me and my husband's race. The problem was the employees as well were looking at us everywhere we went and when we checked out. Also the employees were very unprofessional because they were talking about what happened for everyone to hear including making racial remarks about the black man that the police were looking for. Will not be back it made me and my husband extremely uncomfortable and this was our first time in this Jewel’s since moving out here. Just lets you know racism is still alive, SAD! (Update: I called customer service the same day it happened and was told I would get a call from the district manager and I have not been contacted. I also saw another review with another person’s experience with racism at this location and there was no response. I have been shopping here since I was a little kid and it’s sad to see that Jewel Osco condones racism.)"
