"I wouldn't given Boren 4 stars until today when I had the misfortune of meeting the assistant principal, Mico Rhines. She is as unprofessional as her name implies and quite possibly the most horrible human being that ever worked at an elementary school. I both went to the office yesterday morning and emailed my daughter's teacher informing them that I would pick my child up from school this week. I had absolutely no issues yesterday. Today, my child's kindergarten teacher was out sick, but still - my email was yesterday and I also had informed the office yesterday morning. I waited for my daughter in the parent pick up line and she wasn't there. Finally, I was asked to go to the office while she is located. At this point, I was worried because my 5 year old daughter went to school this morning and now couldn't be located. I walked into the office and they found her. She had been sent to after school care instead of the "car rider" area. I waited to speak with someone and that's when I met Ms. Rhines. She let me know that we're good to go now. I informed her that we weren't good. I needed to understand what I needed to do so that we could prevent a miscommunication like this from happening in the future. She repeatedly cut me off and said, "well, her teacher was out, so obviously that's why we didn't know." I told her the teacher was informed yesterday when she was in office and responded... I have never had to email for each day. She cuts me off again and says that they don't let anything happen to their kinders and obviously she was somewhere in the school. She completely missed my point and finally tells me I can send a note with my daughter tomorrow. Her tone was extremely agitated, condescending and unlike any interaction I have ever had with any faculty member at an elementary school. I asked to speak with someone else and asked what her name was. She kept repeating that she was the asst. principal and that the principal was somewhere in the building and I could just "go ahead and send an email or something". I spoke with another faculty member at the front who was much kinder and collected the asst. principal's name, the principal's email and phone number. While I was speaking to another faculty member, they asked what happened and i explained that I was just worried when I couldn't locate my child and wanted to make sure it didn't happen again. They said that email is normally fine, but tomorrow, I probably want to call or write a note to be sure. Ms. Rhines chimes in and says, " yeah, exactly what I told you." I let her know that it was all about tone. She goes on to say that she doesn't want to argue with me and I told her that I wasn't even speaking to her and she didn't have to speak to me at all. She proceeds to tell me that this is her building and she runs the place and I have no right to tell her who she can and cannot talk to. This woman literally said that this is HER building. I thanked the other faculty member that helped me, mouthed the word "Witch" to Ms. Rhines and left with my daughter. I'm not sure if this woman's work experience came from schools in Pleasant Grove... but she has no business working with children. Someone who can go from 0 - 100 that quickly and is THAT aggressive isn't good for anyone. If she can't have any type of empathy for a mom who couldn't find her child - how does she handle other matters? I've contacted both the principal and the district and absolutely will not drop this matter until this asst. principal on a power trip is gone."
