"7 out of 10 people that work here are mentally unstable or mentally challenged. Rude staff always on top of that. Nobody is friendly at the customer service desk. Young girl with glasses during the day has literally never once smiled at me and asked me “how are you today?” Other people at night are rude- including Nick the Ogor. Joseph is the only nice kid working at the desk. The lady standing by the DIY checkouts tonight with the foreign accent was staring at me while buying a single bottle of whiskey. It was eyeballs all over me like I was about to steal something……. I looked at her and asked her if she was new. She said “maybe yes, maybe no, why is there problem?!” I said no , there’s no problem I always come in at this time and I have never seen you and I’m just being friendly making a conversation. She then said “it’s ok if no problem it’s not your business if I’m new…….” I looked at her and called her a weirdo because that’s a weird thing to say to someone who is always here 3-5 times a week and doesn’t recognize you. Then Nick wouldn’t give me a money order because - well I couldn’t make out his reasons because he doesn’t have any communication skills. I always come in late for a money order at this time and it was NEVER a problem in the past. Now it is because it’s after 11 and you’re open until 12. Thanks for the wasted trip. I’ve had numerous small issues in this store for a long time. I don’t know why I suffer through shopping here."

"This review is mainly for the deli counter. It really is the most horrible service. The employees are rude and completely oblivious. I was there on a Saturday morning around 8 am. There were like 5 people working behind the counter and one person out front stocking pre-cut meat and cheese in a case. Not one person even acknowledged my existence. I was the only customer at the counter. After like 2-3 minutes I finally asked the person who was stocking the case out near where I was standing if the deli was actually serving guests this morning. And she had the nerve to be annoyed with my question. Still took another 2-3 minutes to get someone to actually serve me. And the service I finally received was unnecessarily rude. I like the Boar's Head, but that deli is kind of gross and the service sucks - a lot. The location is convenient, but it's not worth it. I'll try the VP location next time - although, their CS isn't much better. The deli was better the last time I was there, though. Mariano's might have to be my go-to moving forward. There needs to be younger (yes, I said it), less oblivious, more hygienic employees in the deli who have better customer service skills."

"Emily in the floral department is an artist!! She created this beautiful carnation arrangement from my rough offsite description. It completely exceeded my expectations! The flowers she chose are so fresh and sweet smelling! Will definitely purchase more flowers from Lombard jewel in the future! Thanks Em!"

"The bakery has amazing cakes and cupcakes, great quality and taste. Unfortunately, the people who work there have forced me to never go back there again. My husband went to pick up a cake with "Ramadan Mubarak" written on it. The old, white lady working there said she doesn't like Ramadan because it makes "her sales go down." Extremely disrespectful, rude, and discriminatory. I can't believe they would have someone like that working up there for customers from different religions and backgrounds. I went back again to get a cake now for Eid, and a DIFFERENT old, white lady was extremely rude and dismissive of what we wanted on the cake. She gave a lot of attitude when I asked her to write on it, and she did not even make an effort for what she was writing. My five year old nephew could write better than that, I was better off writing it on my own had I known she would do it that way. There needs to be better training and cultural awareness when they decide to hire employees at the forefront working with customers. Very off putting, I can't imagine how they treat other Muslim customers or people from different backgrounds."

"Stopped over to buy few items from grocery and dairy. All the bananas were fully ripe and I wasn’t sure if I take them they would last til the next day. I still did but smaller bunch. After getting all the items I see that there was a large line and only one cashier was open. It’s 9:AM on Wednesday. I waited in line and it was not comfortable. The cashier and her colleagues were complaining about how the manager was disrespectful and yelling on ladies employees. There were quite a few grievances amongst them. Wish them well. Hours after my review I Received a reply to my review and it was nothing but a typical response by a hired gun. A social media companies who are hired by these companies to help in reviews just to show a fake front of customer service or like they really care. I find it insulting to say the least. I rather have no reply than a fake reply."
