"For about 3 months (Sept-Nov 2022), I was going to the only nail technician at the Orland Park location. It serves no purpose to name and shame her, but I do want to make others aware of my experience so that if you do attempt to be serviced by her, you can do so with an honest review of her behavior. I quite frankly think I was discriminated against based on race. I had gone to the person consistently for 3 months. I was never late. I always paid and tipped 15-20% above the cost and then randomly after my last visit, she messaged me stating she didn't think she could please me and that it wasn't a good fit so she would be canceling all my future appointments. Mind you I never complained to her about anything and she never really even asked me if I was happy at the end, but I was always happy with her work. I would give her a 10 out of 10 for the actual services she performed on me. We always had a positive experience. I even listened to her degrade the Asian nail salons and talk about how horrible they are, which I thought was unprofessional but whatever. The most I ever asked of her was to maybe file my nails a bit more to my liking, but this was never, in my opinion, anything out of the ordinary. So, after she sent me the message stating she would be canceling all my future appointments, which were well into 2023, I was floored. I literally BEGGED her not to and tried to reassure her that I loved my experience going to her and really would love to continue coming to her, but she refused. I apologized to her if there was anything I had done to offend her, she still refused to service me. Again, we had no issues at all before she sent me this message. I later shared the experience with my sister who then looked the tech up on Instagram and my sister shared with me that she could not see any other clients of color posted on the tech's Instagram except me going back for a very long time, which really made me think that this is why the tech no longer wanted to service me. It was the strangest thing ever. I would never want to be serviced by any person who does not want to service me because of the color of my skin or for any other reason and if it wasn’t for this reason, why couldn’t she just tell me what I had done to offend her? Lastly, if you're in a servicing industry and can’t tolerate a customer making a request about their preferences or asking a question for education purposes, then you should really consider another profession."
