"Called about service on a specific sewing machine that they don’t sell and was told they could look at it but they may not be able to get parts to fix it because they have issues getting parts from this company. 1. Why not just look at it before telling me they can’t get parts to fix it? The machine is like 4 months old so I’m positive parts are available. It’s like she was trying to deter me from bringing it in. 2.when I showed up with the machine a dark haired older woman came out to help me and was not friendly at all. I got the 3rd degree about whether I’d been there before, what other machines I own and so on. I have purchased a $1500 machine from them previously and if there was any place else to take it or any sewing machines locally for service. I would. That woman is very unfriendly. Also. It wouldn’t hurt you to clean up the store. There was clutter everywhere. Even bags of snacks laying out. That should be in the break room. Not on the sales floor. Even if I wanted to look at a machine for purchase, the mess would have prevented me from doing so."
"Fantastic shop with friendly and knowledgeable staff."
"Always have had 5 star service. Easy to work with."
"Get rid of the old owner from hanging around this place and I will try them again. He screwed us once and he won't again. Went to price a 15 needle and he butted in on the sale person (new owner) and my husband and I just stopped and walked out."
"As a small business owner, I do not make a habit of giving negative reviews for other small businesses. With that said....this needs done. I was in there today after spending time on the phone with Brother. They told me to go in there, drop off my machine and get the ticket number for my warranty since I didn't have my proof of purchase. The lady with the short dark hair looked at me like I grew a second head. I explained what Brother told me and she said "They just don't know what they're talking about we don't do that." I explained she could take it up with them, because that is what they told me and they are paying the repair bill. Anyway, I decided to tell her I think the needle might be stuck and that may be the problem and asked her if she could look at it. Here is the following conversation... GSC lady: What kind of needles are you using. Me: (pulls out package of needles that Brother told me I could use) GSC: Oh well that is your problem. Me: I've owned this machine for months, I've never had a problem GSC: well..you are using the wrong needle. (opens bobbin case) you must sew a lot because its filthy in here Me: Yes, several hours per day GSC: (goes to get expensive needle and inserts it) do you ALWAYS use a different type of thread on bobbin and on top?" Me: no, I just put that bobbin in there so you could see what the problem was. GSC: You KNOW you don't use colored bobbin thread for embroidery. Me: Yes...again I just put that in there so you could see the problem GSC: Well, that is part of the problem, you are using a different weight thread on bottom than on top Me: AGAIN...I just put that in there so you could see the problem...can I just buy the "special" needles please GSC: grabs needles, goes to cash register. At this point I decided to ask about digitizing software (lord only knows why, after she was so rude) and she tries to sell me a 1500 dollar software.....now back to dialogue.. Me: nevermind I'll just keep sending it out for digitizing when I get an order GSC: With your obviously limited experience, you really need classes before you try selling things. Me: (about to throttle her) pays and walks out... A little about me...I've been sewing since 3rd grade. I do a lot of orders for sewing and embroidery. I do not have LIMITED experience. Everything I said this lady said something against to make me feel stupid, from having to "beat" denim before I sew it, to the spool cap that I used. This is a new machine for me, I've only had it a few months. This doesn't mean I have only been sewing for a few months. I called Brother and let them know what a terrible place they have contracted to do their warranty work. It seems, according to them, I'm not the only one who has complained. Next time I need warranty work, I'll go to Rock Island before stepping foot in that place again. She REALLY thought, after being so rude that I'd buy a $1500 software program? It just so happens I'm in the market for such a program but I won't purchase it there. I am also in the market for a more expensive embroidery machine, and I will go elsewhere for that too. Dear Galesburg Sewing Center...she probably cost you no less than $5,000 in future sales today. You should give her an award for being the worst employee I think I've ever met anywhere. Amber Gavin"
