"I had a foster child on the list since 15. She is now 19.5 and I just got the email stating she is no longer eligible. screams scam that they do not refund the application fee. I emailed to inquire about the return of the application fee since there was never an indication that she would just be removed from the list. No response as usual from SCL."
"If your child is over the age of 13, I would not apply. Your child will eventually get withdrawn from the program before he/she even gets seen. This company is more or so like a Ponzi scheme."
"I gave 5 stars in order to warn parents of older teens. I applied when my son was 15.5. They estimate 9 months to a year. I submitted all the documents, dental X-rays, pictures, my son even took a week to thoughtfully and thoroughly write the required essay explaining how hard it was for him to even look at himself in the mirror, he poured his heart out, even talking about the challenges he faces with body dysmorphia disorder, and I paid the non-refundable deposit. Roughly 8 months later I received an email that he was approved and that they were in the process of locating a provider within 100 miles from us and that it should take 6 weeks. From that point I’d receive a periodic email asking me to update any info if applicable. When my son turned 18, yes 2.5 years later, I figured he was all set because he was approved well before his 18th birthday. And then I’m June of 2023, he was now 18.5, I received word that he was ineligible due to the fact that he was 18. Now I’m not overly concerned with the non refundable deposit although it does make you wonder what’s more troublesome is the wasted 3 years where I could have been looking for alternative options to help my child, instead of being left under the impression that he was merely awaiting a provider and that it was only a matter of time. Caution to those with older teens… don’t waste your money, time or worse get your kids hopes up."
"Smiles Change Lives. The name of their organization says it all. Their mission is to help more people experience this statement. They make it SUPER easy to find a provider in your area to take advantage of this wonderful service. They have changed, and will continue to change the lives of kids who's families might not be able to afford the cost of fixing their smile. They are a fantastic organization to work with!"
"I have had the privilege of working with Smiles Change Lives for several years now and I could not be more pleased with our business relationship. Everyone is knowledgeable, friendly, and always willing to go above and beyond to help me (let alone, all of their children in the program). Excellent organization that everyone should support and work with!"
