"I really thoroughly researched this insurance company before selecting it. I liked that almost all my physicians were on this plan. The fact that you need referrals to see any specialist is AWFUL. It’s seriously a part time job. The referrals never make it to the specialist. Then you’re spending all your time mediator between your PCP and the specialist, to get the referral to them. You’re constantly going back and forth checking to see if it went through can they re send it since they are electronically sent, and following up on the other end. What a pain, and a waste of your time. I will never select an insurance that you need referrals. I get why they do this though, it makes you reluctant to ever use the health insurance and saves them money."
"The reviews speak for themselves. Every interaction, big or small, is the most unbelievably agonizing experience. They set the bar so low, and then manage to set it lower the next time. It seems like everything they do is designed to cause pain. It’s so ridiculous it’s almost funny. Dealing with blue cross both before and after my surgery was far more painful than the actual surgery itself."

"For such a big company, it's unbelievable how there is never a live person available to assist a provider's office. Every time I call I can never get connected. Automated system says no one is available then just hangs up. Patients get frustrated with providers, but they don't realize how incredibly hard it is to get any type of help from BCBS. With insurance being this expensive, you would think they could afford to hire more people to provide phone support at least, or outsource. I wonder how many CSR are on payroll. I know company will never care to even look at all these negative reviews, but at this point I'm just writing this to vent!"
"If I can give them a 0 I would. Worst experience I have had to go through. My mom was taken a big amount of money beginning of January. Made no sense why they would even charge that much for a month of medical, not even my family of 4 pay that much. I, her daughter, have been calling since January fighting for her refund and till this day have not had no luck. Keep in mind every time I call is a minimum call of 1 hour and 30 mins. Even a police report has been filled. They still say that financial team is working on it, but when you call you can't get in contact with the financial team. I honestly would think it twice before getting this insurance. Such a big Company but terrible service"
