"Our family of five has been going to this place for over 10 years. We chose this place because it is a one-stop shop for all dental needs, but the level of their service has been declining lately. There is always been some issue every time we go to this place. The front desk people are not very friendly. My wife had a few frustrating experiences in the past and I just had another one last week. I took my daughter for a routine cleaning. I was told that it would be fully covered. Yesterday I received an EOB from my insurance that showed I owe some money. I called the office and spoke with Marilyn. She informed me that it was for the topical fluoride varnish treatment that my insurance did not cover. I asked why was I not informed or asked if I wanted my daughter to have that treatment. She responded that it is very unheard-of insurance to not cover this kind of treatment in teens so they just normally do it in addition to the routine cleaning. When I questioned the payment, I was told that since my daughter already received the treatment, I had to pay the discounted price. The only thing they could do was to split the cost. I then asked to speak with the office manager because no one asked me for that additional service and I had never consented to that treatment. Sharon got on the phone and said the same thing that I was told by Marilyn. She said hygienists usually do not ask and do the treatment when clinically required. Consent was not needed in this case because it was a non-invasive treatment. She said I was being very difficult and arguing with them for the last 20 minutes for something that was clinically necessary and beneficial for my daughter and over a very minimum charge. Coming that from the office manager blew my mind. She clearly did not get my point. The amount was not a question. My point was they did something without asking a parent and now they are making them pay. This is a wrong practice and very unethical, especially in the medical field. It is essential to maintain transparent communication and to ensure that patients are fully informed about their treatments, and those that are not covered by insurance and come with an extra cost. During the entire conversation, not even once, Marilyn or Sharon admitted it was their screw up and I did not hear any apology. I hate to say it, but they just lost their 5 loyal patients by not owning their mistake and over a small amount of money."
"I broke a tooth while visiting Illinois as I live out of state. The staff at The Dental Store were extremely accommodating even on an holiday weekend. They helped me temporarily fix the issue until I return home. They did not try and swindle me and picked the best option possible. They helped me to enjoy the rest of my weekend here! "I just had my first visit and was quite impressed. Everyone I interacted with was cheerful and welcoming. After the x-rays were taken I had the most thorough exam by the hygienist. She clearly explained everything and made me very comfortable. I actually look forward to future visits."
