"I was pleased to hear of the opening of a Goodwill Outlet (aka “The Bins”) in the Chicagoland area. This is not your typical Goodwill experience, be prepared to dig through literal mountains of clothing to find things you like. I’m docking one star because of the parking lot. For the size of this place, the parking lot should be bigger. On a Tuesday late morning, every spot was taken and I had to park along the side of the lot. Many people seem to hang around for hours for the rotation of the bins. When they bring out new bins, people wait until they are all out before digging through the new pile of clothing. People have multiple carts filled with items. Likely many are resellers, but you can still find some quality items, some even new with tags. The items seemed to be about as clean as your average Goodwill store, but there were a lot of clothes with stains, which seemed more than average. Just make sure you inspect your items carefully and you’ll be fine. I would recommend visiting the Goodwill Outlet!"
"What I can say is that the staff is nice and the place is clean. Shout out to Ricardo, great guy. What makes me give it a 2 star review is how crowded the place is with kids just messing around, and how you're rung out. Reading the big sign on the wall, there are 3 rules I feel need to be pointed out: 1. One customer per table at a time 2. Wait to shop until the goodwill team signals they are ready 3. Be respectful of other shoppers Every time I've gone there have been groups of 3-5 teenagers crowding the new bins, and getting mad at you when you try to make room for yourself to pick. Beyond that, they'll be sneaky and try to grab an item off the top of the new bin or move something to get a better view before the employees say you're good to shop. They'll also sit in the bins and play on their phones, and give you trouble if you ask to pick in that bin. It seems that the staff is not holding up their own rules. Compared to other bins locations I've been to, you have to empty your whole cart onto a scale, versus just weighing the whole cart and the staff setting the tare on the scale to the weight of the cart. With how crowded the place is, it can take almost half an hour to check out, and the line will sometimes extend back into the aisles, making it hard to shop. I was excited that this was coming, but it's been a big letdown so far. So, my two suggestions to management are: (1) Actually enforce your posted rules (2) Adopt a similar checkout system to other bins locations, or crosstrain and divert back-of-house staff to the registers."
"Don’t listen to the negative reviews - they do not understand what this store is supposed to be. I love going here - I always find amazing stuff, and can leave with two carts full of stuff for under $40! I wish they had more headlines stuff that got switched out, but I never leave empty handed and have found amazing deals. Lots of great quality clothes too. Just have to put in a little elbow grease to dig around!"
"Went opening day and was crowded. Went back a few weeks later not as crowded. But be warned be careful where you are sorting through because you could have someone a bin over just tossing things into the pile you are trying to go through. The employees are nice, the customers not do l so much. And the complaints about nothing sorted. There's a reason why the clothes are priced by the pound. You have to try and find what you are looking for. And no it's not more expensive than a regular good will. I got 3 shirts for under 2 dollars.(not 2 each but 2 all together) while the stores sell shirts for 3-5 dollars a peice"
"80% of the bins are clothes which is a let down for me. Not very many bins of miscellaneous items. I was there for over 2 hours & not once was a row of miscellaneous bins were switched out. A lot of items are literal trash & garbage but I mean it’s understandable because it’s not practical to nip pick the bins. I figure the staff just loads up the bins & send them out. Staff is very friendly & place is clean for the time being. My personal opinion I prefer the outlet in Gary Indiana by a long shot. I don’t think I’ll be coming back to this location unless they add more miscellaneous bins & actively rotate them. If you’re into hunting clothes then you might enjoy it."
