"Any time we are out of Princeton and talking booze with friends, I end up talking about "our bar" - Barrel Society is that kind of place. The friendliest people, incredible selection of whiskey and beer. It's worth a drive to come hang out here."

"Love this place. I'm a huge fan of whiskey, and love trying the rare stuff when available. Barrel Society has a very large selection, great pricing per dram, and a store towards the back of the building which sells various bottles and beers. Service was solid too. One of the gents behind the bar was very attentive, and liked to geek out on whiskey as much as I do, so it made for a good time. One more thing regarding the selection - everything I picked was in stock, and I don't take this for granted. A number of bars in Chicago boast a huge selection, but your heart gets broken quickly when the barman repeatedly says the selection you've made is out of stock. I'll visit again when I'm in that area if Illinois."

"It's taken me a couple of years of visiting to write this review. You will be hard pressed to find another bar / bottle shop in Illinois that rivals Barrel Society. From the selection, to the amazing art collection, to the staff and the patrons who all make this a must stop. Barrel Society has become a staple in Princeton, it is worth your time to visit. All budgets are accommodated in both spirits and beers. I cannot say enough good things about this establishment, the crowd, the staff, the vibe, and the selection. Truly a diamond in the rough, so if you were on the fence I hope this helped you. 100% worth it."

"My husband and I moved to Princeton about 4 years ago from the Chicago suburbs. We were so excited to find Barrel Society--it's a gem! We just love hanging out on a Friday night (or Saturday, or a Sunday for their amazing Bloody Marys, or sometimes on a random Thursday). The beer and bourbon list goes on and on and the cocktails are tasty and creative. The bartenders are very friendly and considerate. There's a bottle shop in the back that's stocked with beer, liquor, and other cocktail making needs (it's perfect because we're trying to build our home bar so we can run in and grab what we need). If they don't have something you're looking for in the bottle shop, they'll make suggestions (or even try to order it for you). Their special events and trivia nights are so fun. Nick, the owner, works really hard to bring in food trucks from all over, so on those occasions it's fun to grab some food and sit and eat in the bar with a cocktail or two. We're so appreciative that he's brought in so many great food options and comes up with fun events! Cheers!"

"This is a pleasantly unexpected surprise in the town of Princeton, IL. This bar has a great atmosphere, fantastic beer and bourbon menus, and a friendly & knowledgeable owner and staff. The prices on cocktails and pours are fair and reasonable. There is a bottle and can shop available in the back. They don't have a kitchen but they schedule food trucks. If you are local, go often. If you are visiting the area, seek it out."
