"Great store amazing helpful workers"
"I wanted to share my story of racial profiling at the Family Dollar at 7901 171st Street in Tinley Park. I was targeted by “manager” Stephanie and another white cashier, Maddie. I came in on 2/22 to return a fisher price puppy and a 3-pk of sports balls that my son received, Friday 2/16, for his 1st birthday. I did not have a receipt since these were gifts. When I walked in, Stephanie saw the two toys in my arms. I asked for a no-receipt return. I explained that they were gifts. The return was processed as a gift card for store credit, however Stephanie asked Maddie to check her texts. Maddie read the text message, and then asked me if the reason I didn’t have a receipt was because I left without paying for the items?! Confused by her nerve, I asked what was going on. I was told someone stole similar items on Saturday 2/17 in the 1pm hour. Stephanie abruptly left to go look at the tapes. Instantly I became upset that I, a random customer, was being accused of stealing. Luckily, I had a timestamped photo of my son opening the toys on Friday 2/16. Otherwise who knows what would’ve happened. While Stephanie went to look at the tapes, I showed Maddie the timestamped photos in my phone of my son opening the gifts Friday 2/16. Maddie told Stephanie that I have pictures, so it wasn’t me. Neither one of them apologized. When other patrons asked what happened, I said racial profiling, which the workers denied, stating that someone stole Saturday. I asked Stephanie, “so a fat, short, black woman with an Afro puff stole from here on Saturday, really?” She had no reply of course. I am a naturally quiet, introverted woman so this was a highly humiliating experience for me. Once they gave me the gift card, I was going to grab a box of diapers to just get rid of it, since I’m not a normal shopper. I called my husband upset and he told me not to spend any money there and to just leave the store. I left the store shaking and cried all the way home. I highly doubt that if a non-black mom came in with a no receipt return, she’d receive the same treatment. I am embarrassed, and was humiliated for no reason. I don’t shop at family dollar but a few times a year, as they aren’t known for their customer service. However, this is the worst treatment I’ve ever received in my life."
"Every time I come to this location, I always receive good customer service from David. He’s super sweet, and you can tell he’s all for customer service. He described to me which clothing items and food items would be on sale which were super helpful to my total. Thank you so much David because good customer service is hard to find and he definitely exceeded good customer service! I pray he goes far in life."
"This should be a 0. I was in two days ago and was at check out, I attempted to use apple pay and the clerk was very polite and nice and told me the apple pay on her register was not working. I unfortunately did not have cash or a credit card with me. She told me no problem. The register next her was functioning property. She just needed her manager to open it up. The manager was having a discussion with a Red Bull sales rep near checkout. The cashier politely excused herself to the manager and asked her to open the other register for apple pay. The manager went off on the cashier in front of me and the Red Bull rep. Myself, the Red Bull rep and most importantly the cashier was embarrassed and uncomfortable. I told the manager there would have been a better way to handle the situation so as not to make her employee look bad. This manager has no business being a boss. I apologized to clerk and took my business elsewhere"
"This is the worst store I have ever been to it’s unfortunate workers have lack of respect and professionalism. I was over charged twice on my purchases on two different days. When I went back each time no apologies no nothing Kymonee Cannon worst employee once I asked for a manager she said I am the manager . This employee even had the nerve to give me a attitude and clap her hands in front of other customers. My brother also complained about this employee having such a bad attitude. Please everyone check you receipts before leaving I am pretty sure she does that to me on purpose knowing that it is hard to contact supervisors or cooperate."
