"We stopped in on a whim looking to try something new in the area. Was surprised to still see some of the old Granite City stuff here and there on the grounds. Other than a few minor changes, it still looks almost exactly as if did when Granite City was in there. They have a huge menu that consists of numerous pages of both drinks and food. However, the high prices scared us off when comparing them to similar mexican style restaurants. We did like the free chips with salsa which were served with a cold whitefish dip. Also, our margaritas were quite yummy, but never seemed to get cold. We liked our short stay, but can't imagine we'll be back considering how many other places in Rockford offer similar food for better pricing."
"Very good seafood restaurant. I recommend it for special family occasions or celebrations. Also to have a good time after work or to distract yourself. I had a bad experience one time when I went to eat, a hair came out on my shrimp and in the end they charged me for it! Something you shouldn't be like that or maybe a discount would have been nice! Worst very good place. Also music, many people do not like Mariachi and charge a lot of money per song."
"Large menu, everything has some sort of shrimp in it. Not your average Mexican restaurant. My wife and I were going for regular small street tacos but were talked into the taco dinner n man was it AWESOME. Steak tacos dinner came with 3 huge tacos rice n beans. Steak meat was great like chopped real steak. Everything was large portions and we both highly recommend it definitely a go to from now on!"
"This place was ok , the steak tacos had good quality but flavorless. For the price I expected larger side portions of rice and beans tht were also flavorless as well . The ceviche was ok , Isla Del Mar has the best . I say adding some seasoning/salt to the food would definitely help this place ."
"I’m giving this new business a few tries before setting a firm review. We came in on the 4th day of business. They are still ironing out the wrinkles and I think this place has the potential for a super cool hangout. The menu has a terrific seafood selection, which is honorable in a landlocked Midwest restaurant. It’s a mix of Latin and Asian inspired dishes. We tried a seafood sushi roll. Packed with flavor but a hefty price at $19.99/plate. However I will admit that the taste did not disappoint We didn’t come super hungry so the two of us split an entree. $34 for a Mezcal margarita and the food. Our server was very sweet. The music was a bit loud. The dining area was crowded with cafeteria style tables and chairs. It was cozier when it was set up like the previous restaurant. I miss the old booths and oversized tables. It’s okay though- I welcome the new business and I hope they are successful. We will definitely be back!"
