Reviews of Maria's Gyro
"I was in search for a good Greek place. Yelp and Google led me here.. It’s where the old poutine restaurant used to be in downtown Naperville. There’s a free parking garage across the street as well as a parking lot to the right of the restaurant. It’s a mom and pop shop. They make everything from scratch so it does take a short while for your food. It’s worth it. Prices are fair. Plenty of seating. We ordered beef and falafel platter, beef bowl, and spanakopita (spiral spinach pie). Everything tasted wonderful. Very generous portions. Meat was tender and flavorful. Pita bread was soft and warm. French fries were seasoned, not salty. Service was great, they treat you like family. I would definitely come back."
"Maria's Gyro is the place to go! The owners Mike and Maria are incredibly nice and the service was fantastic. The food was also incredible - it was the best gyro I've ever had, easily. My date had the fries and souvlaki and also said they were delicious. We will be back!"
"Recently stopped by after hanging out many hours in Barnes and Nobles shopping for some fabulous deals...so we definitely worked up an appetite. Parking can be premium especially on a weekend, but we were able to find parking relatively quickly in the parking garage right across the street. The location is large and had a lot of natural lighting as well. We sat by the window and had a huge couch for one side of our family so that was super comfy! We were greeted immediately and as we were looking at the menu didn't feel rushed at all which was great. Since we wanted to share everything we ordered a couple of platters, some souvlakia (not pictured), and the spiral spinach pie/spanakopita. Everything was absolutely delish! My personal preference was for the chicken, falafel, then the beef. The falafel was crisp outside and soft inside with a lovely prominent flavor! The platters were packed with a lot of very nice high quality items including a couple dolmades (stuffed grape leaves), a couple baby blocks of feta, a Greek salad, pita bread, fries, and choices of protein. I enjoyed that we could mix and match the proteins. The souvlakia (grilled chicken on a stick) comes as an order of 1 or 2 sticks...we got 2 with a side of rice. Next time I will pass on the rice, it was ok, but with so many other things we had was something I can pass on next time. I was really excited to try the spiral spinach pie...usually when I have it anywhere else it's a square or rectangle so I found the shape and overall pie to be unique and tasty! It was served warm so loved that too! Overall pricing is on par with the area and I thought the quality also backed up the pricing. This is not a greasy spoon situation which also means not greasy spoon pricing. They do have an in store student special where you can get a gyros with fries and drink for $14 with a student ID."
"Gyros were large full and perfectly flavored and seasoned. Their fries are amazing and delicious. Spinach pie was warm flaky and delicious. Pita bread was soft warm and so fresh tasting. Highly recommend."
