Golden Sun Chinese Food

"Ordered through door dash. Food was never ready. Multiple dashers called apologetic but unable to explain why a simple order was not ready during a 3 hour ordeal. Called the restaurant multiple times, a manger was going to call us back. Never happened. Called again looking for some reason, logic or apology, however they wouldn't answer the phone."

"The food is fantastic and the lunch specials are very reasonably priced. I don't know what the negative reviews are talking about. I get the shrimp with broccoli lunch special frequently and it comes with large shrimp plus soup plus soda and fried rice"

"The food USED to be very good, but there must be new owners. Aug.2023: Ordered an egg roll & small beef fried rice for a quick lunch while on the road. It was $9.20!!! Decided to eat at the one table in the empty foyer, rather than in my car. My small beef fried rice was dry & totally tasteless + lacking green onion, bean sprouts or egg, (as others have noted.) Just dry beef slivers & dry rice & some peas & carrot cubes. Had to request hot mustard & only received 1 sweet & sour & 1 soy sauce. Both packaged egg roll sauces were subpar—watery, cheaply made, w/a wierd taste & color so I did not enjoy the egg roll tho it was at least hot. Never saw egg roll sauces this watery & cheaply made (& tasting) in my life. My first job was w/a very popular & reasonably priced Chinese takeout place in the Bogan H.S. Area. The chef was an incredible cook & taught me to make & appreciate GOOD Chinese food! He sold & eventually owned a successful & fancy place in NY before he died. Now THAT was good Chinese food—both near Bogan & in NY! The SouthWest Suburbs have few Chinese restaurants—especially for good carryout. I hate to criticize a restaurant during post-pandemic hard times, but if you cant stand the heat—get out of the kitchen! The previous owners probably sold you their recipes when you bought the place, but if so, you are obviously not using them as the food & quality have greatly declined. Golden Sun is now overpriced & tasteless. I arrived famished—so I reluctantly finished my egg roll, but threw most of my beef fried rice away when I got home. Sorry, but I will not be back."

"This was our first and last time trying Golden Sun. My husband thought the egg rolls were but, but otherwise our food was very bland. I added egg to my fried rice, but had I not, its just a few pieces of chicken with carrots. No green onions, sprouts, etc. There are far better places in the area."
