"Called and talked to the owner a few times about a CVT transmission in a Subaru Outback and he has been extremely helpful. Would recommend Sterling Transmission to anybody that has any transmission issues. Very friendly and very helpful."
"Owner is very undisciplined. Likely one of the most undisciplined mechanics in central IL. Dealing with him is like dealing with a stereotypical movie drug dealer . He is shady in his truths, tells you all sorts of excuses, and is always underestimating the time it will take him. You dont even feel safe in his shop its clearly filled with workplace safety and health hazards not to mention they openly smoke in the office in front of you He also rambles on about things completely unrelated like politics or other things he doesn't like. He clearly spends more time doing these ramblings over working. He is cheaper over others but in this case you get what you pay for which is basically him making excuses for his lack of discipline. Also, We are talking weeks of delays not days. Essentially, I would never reccomend anyone to go here under any circumstance."
"Took our car here that had a slight slip in transmission and had car shield who was paying for the repair. The guy said it was t bad enough for a claim so he took it upon himself to drive it everywhere for a week and locked up the transmission. Here it is two months later and he still has my car telling me he can’t get through to Car Shield and when I call Car Shield they stated he won’t return their call. I honestly regret taking my car to this shop and would advise others to beware!!!"
"I'd recommend this repair shop. The gentleman there answered every single question I had and he didn't give us the run around. It took only a few days for our vehicle to get released back to us. Definitely will be going there again, if we have any problems in the future. Thank you!"
"Paul and his help at Sterling Transmission repair went out of there way to get us back on the road after breaking down near New Berlin on interstate 72. My wife had to be at Duke Medical Center on June 6th when the transfer case (on a 2002 Chevy Durmax) went out on June 4th around 10:00 AM. The tow truck took us to Sterling Transmission Repair for evaluation. I had talked to Paul while waiting for the tow truck and he starting looking for a solution to our problem. Once at his shop he gave our problem priority and began trying to get us back on the road. He found us a motel for the night and took us there (approx. 10 miles away) he also scheduled and picked up the part in Springfield instead of waiting for delivery from UPS and picked us up from the motel and took us back to his shop. He had us back on the road a little after noon. My wife was able to make her appointment in NC. I want to say that everyone at Sterling Transmission in New Berlin, Illinois went out of there way to make our disaster turn out ok."
