Steak 'n Shake 1870 Memorial Lane, Wood River, IL 62095

"Food and service were both very blah. Went through around 10 in the evening. Girl at the window acted like I was bothering her by being there and my burger was very sloppily made and bread overcooked. Fries were not hot. Just overall not impressed. What happened to Steak n Shake? This place used to be a staple in the Midwest. It was like a treat to go here when I was a kid."

"I got 2 shakes they was great and steak burgers was ok and warm but have soggy fries Why do I pay more for food that only tastes ok Wood River fast food places are getting bad so I only get Shakes to be safe for most days"

"One of the worst burgers I've had, rivals the taste of Hardee's for the worst. And that comes from someone who likes White Castle burgers. If I hadn't seen the cool bag it I wouldn't believe it was fresh. The fries were soggy and cold, like they spent the day on the counter. Definitely would not recommend. At least the root beer tasted ok and was cold."

"I wish I had read the reviews before I stopped. The food was actually okay. The restaurant was absolutely freezing, there was no soap in the bathroom, most of the tables were dirty and there was No One around to talk to about any of it. It was the most impersonal experience ever. When the lady came out and tossed the tray on the counter and called my name, I tried to catch her attention so I can tell her about the soap in the bathroom, but she was gone just as quickly as she appeared. I’d was not a good experience. The reason for the two rating is because the food was okay."

"I haven't eaten steak n shake for a few years and now I remember why...this location sucks..ordered chili 5 way..instead of letting cheese melt on its own they microwaved it and the meat sauce was super gross and tasted like dog food..not to mention I ordered a med cheese fry and didn't receive it..and I'm not impressed enough to go back up there to get it....now I see why these restaurants are going under..food just isn't the same anymore"
