"I have lived here three and a half years. I had a friend that lived here twenty years ago and when I would visit I always thought this place was charming so, when I did not like my previous property, I knew I could be comfortable here. I am. For me it’s peaceful and has easy access to all the places I need to go. Is it perfect? No but, what is?"
"DONT DO IT! Lived here for a few years and the office human is extremely unprofessional and unhelpful and lies. They cover up things from city inspections constantly. The elevator is a death trap and is very dangerous I was stuck in it several times it was terrifying. The water that runs from the faucets is cloudy and smells awful. There are rats, large rats, that run rampant throughout several units& the property and the office solution is to bring stray cats to catch them. Residents are charged for pest control but clearly there isn’t any. The exterior of the building on the 7th floor is falling off and has injured tenants several times..their answer is putting up orange cones where the building pieces will fall. The railing is rusted and extremely unsafe for humans and pets can fall through, not up to code compliance. Every unit that has a dishwasher has leaks& don’t work and the appliances are ALL from second hand places. The entire property waft’s with the smell of cannabis ALL day! There is NOT central air and heat, there is a central chiller system that blows tepid warm, SHARED AIR, through out the apartments..which means when and if your neighbor cooks, lights candles or smokes in their apartment you WILL smell it through YOUR vents! It’s extremely unsanitary. During the snow storm a few years ago there was snow and frost in every apartment that accumulated due to lack of proper fitting windows or doors. The interior of the apartment units have old wood paneling that has been painted over so many times to cover water damage staining. The owner is a retired realest attorney so he knows how to get away with cutting corners and hide things from San Antonio code compliance when they’re called, which is very often. Be careful where you park your vehicle, break-ins are common as well as catalytic converter theft. There are no security cameras. There is a bar that is right next door and has LOUD and rowdy patrons every night and police are called out weekly due to the noise and fights there. Don’t be fooled by the beautiful views from the balconies facing the golf course..no view is worth the uninhabitable conditions EACH&EVERY apartment unit has. Do not be fooled! 30 day lease’s mean that if you complain to the city or to the office you will be asked to leave and forced out. It happened to many great tenants. This property has so much potential but the slumlord owner and manager are crooked and slimy. DONT DO IT! Look elsewhere."
"I love this place. I would be completely content with never leaving if it weren’t for the issues that the building repeatedly has. There are big issues and small issues. Both only get bandaids slapped on them and never really fixed. The dog park doesn’t get treated, so don’t take your dog in there. It will get fleas or some other deadly disease. The main water pipe breaks every couple of weeks (this time we had water for a week only and it broke again) last time we went over a week with no hot water and no water at all for a few of those days. I currently have no water and haven’t been able to wash work off of me and I need to get ready for work again but can’t. There’s no water. During the summer its about 100 degrees in your apartment because the chiller doesn’t work. So they say its central and all bills paid. Its great. But it doesn’t work. So you’ll have to put Window Ac units in which ever windows they will fit. Which doesn’t leave you many options because most of the windows are tall and whole. My neighbor above me had a window AC in his kitchen, the water from it was leaking into my kitchen ceiling. A year later I still have a water stained messed up ceiling. When it rains my front door swells so bad I can’t open it from outside or inside. Some of the doors on the units are just completely falling a part. The washers are constantly breaking, leaving your clothes in lots of water. The dryers dont dry. The elevator works when it wants to. If people smoke in their unit, it travels through the vents and will completely fill your unit with smoke. Making your family sick and your stuff smell like an ashtray. The management refuses to change the rules to no smoking inside. Even though this is a major health issue. Being that my child and I are allergic to smoke. But they did just implement a new rule that you are not allowed to leave your trash bag of any kind outside your door or in a designated spot, so its ready for you to take down to the dumpsters when you go down. Or they will fine you. The dumpsters are super far from the building. Which is good and bad, hard when you have something heavy to toss or are tired from working all day. The owner is a crazy old man who is a slum lord. He is a retired real estate attorney. So if you raise any fuss, he will evict you immediately. And there’s nothing you can do. This building was top notch in its day. A very lovely, quite, unique, safe place. Its falling apart now but its still in a safe upscale neighborhood. They did however let some ghetto trash move in and a bad crowd started taking over the building. My apartment would get completely hot boxed with cigarette smoke and weed smoke. It was absolutely horrible. And there was nothing I could do. The trash has recently moved out, the smoke has stopped and everything is good again. Except we have no water every other week. And I know once summer comes, it will be even more miserable because there is no AC. Back to the owner, he doesn’t want to give management any money to fix anything. They have ONE guy to fix everything! Thats just not possible! This building is quite literally falling apart! Each unit needs fixing up and with the major issues at hand, that take days and days of work. How is he suppose to do his job and keep everyone happy. Frankly Im tired of giving them $1000.00 a month of my hard earned money that I slaved for. Like I said, I love my apartment. I love the noisy bar next door. You can go down and safely have a drink and not drive. But you will be moving into a building that is falling apart. These are just current issues. Dont get me started on the last management company. The maintenance guys were straight out of prison. They cut a huge hole in my living room wall to “try” and fix my AC. They never finished it. Left it there. And vanished. For long story short. It was a nightmare. Im surprised they didn’t rip me off while they were at it. I know these issues are not the current managements fault. Their hands are tied by a financially restricting, slum lord owner. How he could let this beautiful go..."
"Very old. Prices are fair. Each unit is a little different. Some are updated, others are not. Maintained on a tight budget. It is a quiet community, located next to a bar that can get loud on some nights. Not a bad place though. Safe."
"Moved here about 15 months ago, loved the view, loved the Architecture, Dog park, Spacious rooms, Real brick walls and Terra cotta floors Esthetically pleasing and great big open spaces with huge windows that my plants and i love. Is it perfect obviously not. have i had issues yes but who dosn't when living in apartments especially older properties but the trade off is tons of character which new apartments lack.This property is perfect for artist"s, and free spirits. Can management do better? Yes and it has since i have moved in i see things being painted, power washed, and generaly upgraded. If your good at simple little fixes and dont scream bloody murder when a lightbulb go's out then you will be happy here. I sincererly love the Building and the different characters i have met here the tenants are individually unique and interesting and take care of eachother.If all you need is a pleasant smile or a simple good morning then they will respect your space. Moe and Juan are part of Franklin Property Management and do building maintenance they have helped me move furniture give my car a jump when the battery went dead and are allways pleasant and genuine and show it. This is what i was looking for and this is what i found.Can it improve yes but so can we all individually. So if your Special and high maintenance dont come here. But if you want to meat some great people and own a cute furry friend and have a little bit of patience and are looking for real people then you have found not an apartment but a home."
