About the Giant Eyeball
Located at 1601 Main Street in downtown Dallas, Texas, the Giant Eyeball is a 30-foot tall sculpture that has become one of the city's most iconic landmarks. Created by Chicago-based artist Tony Tasset in 2007, the giant bloodshot blue eye sits on a bed of green grass and has been a popular attraction since its installation in 2013. The sculpture, modeled after Tasset's own eye, has no deep hidden meaning but has captured the attention of locals and tourists alike.
The plot of land where the Giant Eyeball now sits was once home to the Praetorian Building, Dallas' first skyscraper built in 1909. The Eyeball's presence on this historic site adds to its allure and mystery. Visitors often stop by to take photos and marvel at the unique artwork, with some even renting the lot for special events like weddings.
Whether you find the Giant Eyeball cool or creepy, it's definitely worth a visit next time you're in downtown Dallas. Don't miss the chance to see this distinctive piece of public art that has captured the imagination of many.

Reviews of Giant Eyeball
"It's a giant eye really, not a lot more to it than that. There's lots of cafes, restaurants etc nearby so you can get lots of types of food. There are viewing platforms from three sides of the eye though you can't get really close up to it. Lots of walls to sit on if you get tired or wany to sit down to eat some food outside."
"This was a fun little spot that my wife recommended we should visit while in Dallas, TX. It wasn't too difficult to find, and you have to use the parking garage just a block or two up the street as there is minimal street parking. The statue is very cool, and it's on a beautiful piece of property. Although it is private, it is still something special. I could imagine it would not be as nice if there were people on the grass and touching it. You can walk the entire gate structure and see it from many different angles, and at night time, they have different color lights that shine in. Lots to do around the eye, including shopping, eating, and tourist attractions."
"We loved the eyeball. It definitely is a conversation piece in downtown Dallas. We came downtown to do a ghost hunt and had a perfect foggy night then saw a big giant eyeball....it just made it all the more perfect!"
"Such a strange and unique sculpture and def worth seeing if you’re in the area. As others have mentioned, you can’t get up close, but it’s easily viewable from behind a fence. Parking can be difficult, so I’d just recommend taking the (free) M-Line trolley downtown and then walking a couple of blocks to see this sculpture."
