"I don't think this will ever make it to the correct person... Out of all the VA's I've ever been treated at, Ive never been treated with the level of care I've received at this facility. Every time I'm told the front desk will call me to schedule my next appointment, I wait and wait and wait. Months will pass and not a single call. Okay, maybe they forgot... No worries Ill just call them... Ill call and call and call... NEVER ONCE have the calls been picked up. What do I do now? Contact the Patient Advocate? okay... Let me send them an Email on MyHealthEVet. Did just that, hoping for an email back or even a call to figure out what seems to be the problem. NOTHING YET. It's been two weeks. All I want is my doctor or someone else's doctor to help me get back to normal. I just want to live my life the way it was before. I can't get a job (Within my career field) Due to the limitations my disabilities prevent me from doing such as Climbing a ladder, or standing & walking for extended periods of time. I ultimately just want me knees to be repaired. I have 3 Torn Ligaments in my left knee, and they wont do surgery until I complete PT. In order to do PT, I need an appointment... In order to get another appointment, I need to call. In order to call, someone needs to answer the phone... THATS WHERE THE VA LACKS. Nobody wants to work there and nobody seems to care. Can I please just get my Knees fixed? THATS ALL I ASK!"
"It’s the VA. You get the worst of the worst doctors. Years ago, they over-prescribed pin medication and now they act like it’s the patients fault and will not prescribe anything for pain. Not sure why patients have to suffer for their mistakes."
"All the negative reviews here made me worry from seeing any doctors or specialists for years till my doctor for decades passed. Now my current doctor stopped accepting my health care provider so I had no choice. Had to drive an hour there but most of the time traffic is normal. There are 2 additional toll-freeways to get there compare to just 1 and 1 back road years ago. Other than the psychologist not providing me work excuse letter, this facility has been 5 stars. They call back for follow-up appointments, and you can directly communicate with any of your doctors via VA emails. Meds refill notifications via text or personal email. Sometimes all of us needs to be more patient... and am not the most patient vet out there. Pls try em."
"As long as you know what you're dealing with, keeping in mind that this is a government facility full of red tape, and that the VA is a huge organization that spans across the country with dozens of regional clinics, you will realize that the Austin VA clinic is quite nice. I have had nothing but good experiences visiting the Austin VA facility. First off, it's a beautiful, new, modern building with tons of parking, clean restrooms and comfortable waiting areas. I have personally visited physical therapy, imaging, and a pain specialist. I have been pleasantly surprised in the qualifications of the healthcare providers. As someone who is generally skeptical of doctors and prefers a more holistic approach to managing one's personal health, I have found the care to be very satisfactory, no unnecessary drugs have been pushed on me, no impulsive suggestions for surgery, and the care I have received has been extremely helpful to my personal recovery. Don't get me wrong, I've had plenty of frustrations with the VA as a whole regarding scheduling, transferring records between regional clinics, and disability claims, and various other things, but the Austin VA clinic has given me no such troubles... yet. Sometimes it can be a little difficult to get through to a receptionist when scheduling an appointment, but when you spend five minutes waiting to check-in for an appointment, and realize how heavy the call volume they receive is, you become quickly aware that they are managing a lot of appointments so the long call wait is justified. All in all, so far I've had very good experiences with the Austin VA clinic!"
"After a 32-year military career, I've been generally blessed with good health. I'm new to the Austin area and adore this VA facility. Parking is ample, and the staff is very courteous, beautifully designed, and maintained. They have activities for all and a nice little Cafe. Well done Team VA! I loved the performance by the Victory Belles on 4/13. Keep up the great work."
