"The individual I worked with was helpful, however my application was denied and wasn't given a reason why. When I reiterated that I was tight on time and am in need of a place to rent and I could re-apply if need be, I was told that the broker's decision was final and I could not re-apply at all. I do have a support animal and that's the only reason I can think of for being denied."
"They were good in the beginning, but when you move out they charge you for things that you have proof of and also things you opened a service call on. Then when you contact them they do not listen to what is said and what you are disputing."
"They are going to take your deposit no matter how nice you leave the place because they are scammers. They had to send a plumber every other week because they refused to fix plumbing which left us without a toilet on the weekends several times. Windows painted shut. More things wrong here than i count on my hands. Slum lords."
"STAY FAR AWAY Just got the final statement back, and these scumbags held onto the entire deposit for total bull. $325 cleaning fee; the place was spotless. $65 for a furnace filter I had already replaced. $10 to replace a light bulb after I had already replaced all of them before I left AND left extra bulbs for the next tenant. And THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS for nonexistent "randon chips to refrigerator doors" (sic) that they conjured out of thin air to take my entire deposit. I have NEVER dealt with such blatant thieves and charlatans. These grifters deserve to be locked up. DO NOT rent from them under any circumstances."
"This company has abhorrent business practices. While renting from them, they did a very poor job with every aspect of housing management. We turned in several work orders to them - the first of which was because our AC stopped working early in the summer. Because of this, our house was routinely above 85 degrees Fahrenheit. They marked our work order as completed without doing anything. So, we put in another one. This time, they sent a contractor out to check on us. The conclusion of the issue was that the unit was too old (15+ years) and was undersized for the square footage it was needed for. However, First Place Leasing stated that there was nothing they could do about it until summer was over - leaving us to figure it out ourselves for June, July, and August. I should also note that they never did come to fix it even when cooler months came around. Additionally, we turned in multiple work orders to get our fence (blown down in a storm) and gate (stripped screws holding the hinges in) fixed. They never put any effort into those fixes either. After initially ignoring the work orders, they eventually came and "fixed" the gate by place a cinder block at the base of the gate to keep it propped up. Oh well. Hope you don't need to use the gate since the cinder block barricades it closed. We were dissatisfied, so they came back and screwed the hinges back in to the stripped screw holes. That held for a few weeks. They never did come back and fix the gate in any long-term fashion. On checkout, they came and did a walk through with us - stating that they only saw one minor thing that we might get charged for. Then, after we'd left the state, they attempted to charge us for things we had marked down on our initial home walk through (showing they had been present when we arrived). We contested the charges, and the company said they would check on them and get back to us. The next communication we had was with a collections agent who told us that our "debt" had been off-loaded to their company. Overall, this company is unprofessional and seeks to make dishonest financial gains, seemingly, by any means available to them. I would encourage you to avoid them at all costs. If they're the only option (and you're military) seriously consider base housing."
