WellMed at Alamo Heights 430 West Sunset Road, San Antonio, TX 78209

"For one whole year I never saw a MD at WellMed Alamo Heights on Sunset. The 3 times I visited it was a Nurse Practitioner. During the year I got notifications that both the doctors I was assigned to as HMO left. By end of year there was no replacement. Finally I called in November to ask if they would still be taking my insurance, the front desk lady said I dont know but feel free to look for another doctor. I assumed wrong because when I called to make my annual appt this month, they said sorry we dont take your insurance. Which left me scrambling to find a new doctor. So very unprofessional, I am very disappointed in this WellMed Clinic."

"I made the mistake of choosing Welmed 2023 Obama care. Horrible organization. An organized, left hand. Don’t know what the right hands doing. They call you leave a message to call back. They don’t know why they called you. Referral department takes weeks to get you a referral. This is a horrible organization. Do not use them if you have a choice run the other way."

"Overall, Wellmed has been good. Though the doctor turnover is high and since March 2020 I am getting my 4th new doctor. Also, the referrals take a very long time. I waited 5 months for an appointment and I had to reschedule my appointment. Now I am waiting another 5 months. I understand a wait but that is too long. Today I had an experience that was was very disappointing. They were supposed to have my mammogram results this morning and I called the office at 10:30 to check. I was told to call Bexar Imaging directly and they wanted my previous mammogram. I explained that wasn’t possible and that I wanted my results today as stated. I then called Wellmed to let them know and to ask for their help with Bexar. Around 1:00 I called Bexar again and that person knew nothing of my morning call. They stated they might not get to it and I said since I called at 10:30 I think they had the time. Of course I didn’t get the results and will have a worrisome weekend. I think they should show more understanding and if a previous mammogram was needed it should have been disclosed prior."

"Appointments, blood work, and phone calls are great. But their referral process could definitely be improved. I’ve been waiting for a medical referral from them for over a week now. I called 4 times and went in person once. Still nothing. So frustrating."
