"Upon picking our dog up, we noticed he had a large open wound behind his ear and another sore inside the same ear. My husband and I then spoke with Rebecca, the person in charge of this facility, about this before we left and showed her these sores. She went on to tell us that she believed the sores were from him scratching due to allergies since he is a lab mix and that she had seen him scratching. We told her he had not been itching at home. She also said that he had a “party” with the other dogs. I had informed the staff before boarding him that he was iffy around other dogs. Rebecca told us she did not think the wounds were from other dogs. We were never offered any sort of compensation. Also, our dog was brought to us without his collar or flea collar on and he and everything we brought there for him smelt so bad we had to give him a bath immediately when we got home and wash everything we brought there. After we left the facility, we found 3 more sores on his body that were not there before we boarded him. At this point, we were very emotional that we had boarded him. This was our dog’s first boarding experience and I will never board him there again. My husband called the facility after we left and told the person who answered about the other sores we had found and that we were not happy with boarding him there. The person who answered stated that Rebecca would probably want to talk to him about it and he never received a call back. We have been treating his wounds and he has not been itching at all since he’s been home. I do not recommend boarding your dogs here. I wish I never brought him here and due to this experience I will never board him again."

"We brought our 8 mo old German Short Haired Pointer, Ripp, to Rebecca because she is the best. He learned so much in the 3 months he was at RRK. She saw his drive for birds and honed his high energy into true skills. It was clear each time we visited that he was still getting to be a puppy and socialize as well as spending time working to be a quality bird dog. Previously, we had Ripp at another trainer in FL for 2 months. When he returned, he did not even have basic commands down and we were told he would never listen to women. His trainer had written him off and had very little to show us in what he could do. Rebecca was fired up about that and now Ripp listens well to women. Each time we came to visit we saw measurable improvements. Ripp has mastered all basic commands and is returning birds regularly. Rebecca and her team are super communicative, letting us know about his progress and any issues along the way. We have the utmost faith in Rebecca’s abilities and she will always shoot you straight. We will be returning Ripp to her for the next level of training. We even joke we wish we could send our other, older dogs, to her."

"I have two dogs that I boarded here. One has a lot of medical needs. I rescued her from a neglectful situation only a couple of months ago. She had just recently started 3 medications (less than a week before boarding). I ended up having to board both of them for a week. I was very anxious to leave them, especially with all of Grace’s health issues (none contagious). However, River Retriever Kennels willingly took both of my girls and took such good care of them. When I picked them up, they both seemed so happy and healthy. Grace looked SO much better. I can tell they gave her the medicine properly and treated her well. She even gained healthy weight and is moving around like she is in less pain. I will definitely be using this place again in the future."
