DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Austin

"The rooms are nice. They are remodeling. Mehmet waited on us at the restaurant and he was wonderful as was the bar manager. I was there for a conference and they have very nice accommodations for that but front desk was eh. Restaurant food was very good. It is about 15 minutes from downtown. They have a garage for parking 6'6" and an outside over sized parking area. Walking distance to a few restaurants. We had a great view of downtown."

"Originally I was going to leave 4 stars because the rooms are nice enough and there is a hot tub. BUT when I arrived I found out they are doing construction throughout the hotel. There was no warning about that on the website when I made the reservation so I was stuck here. Starting around 8 this morning I was woken up by the LOUDEST jackhammer-like sounds that seems to be coming from the room directly under mine. It's inescapable and my room is basically unusable. I'm pissed about it. Clearly they didn't want to lose reservations due to the construction so they decided not ro tell people until arrival when it's too late to cancel."

"Almost half of the hotel is under construction. The pool area is part of that. And the garage entrances into the hotel are closed, so you only have the 1st floor entrances. I'd wait until construction is done before visiting again. Their key card system was having issues too. The room was clean with plenty of furniture, but it needed a foot stool. The gym had dumbbells up to 75 lbs but were missing some. The weights area was also dimly lit. Maybe it'll be part of the construction later. They should turn their rooftop over the meeting rooms into a green roof, so there'll be something nice when looking out the west-facing windows. That should be part of the construction later. Lastly, there are no first floor rooms here, so it's harder to make a quick getaway."

"The hotel itself is beautifully designed and decorated. However, upon arrival, rooms were not ready yet at check in time due to maids being behind because of hotel being fully booked the previous night. Beds were hard as a rock and no one slept. (Not just our complaint, others in the lobby were complaining about that as well). The bathtub plug didn't work so I was unable to bathe my special needs child who is unable to use the shower. The elevators are extremely small, making it hard for a wheelchair or cane user to ride in if anyone else in in it. Unfortunately, while the staff is great and the building is beautiful, we won't be visiting here again."

"A quick trip to Austin and this Double Tree by HILTON was a great stay! The staff was perfectly cordial from checking in to service at their cafe. My room was clean and bed was super comfy. The outside garden area was beautiful, and inside lounge equally so. They have a workstation with computer and printer available if you need it. The gym area was well equipped for a quick workout with treadmills, bikes and weights. Starbucks offered at this location which is an added bonus for morning coffee. You also might want to try their Chicken Tortilla Soup which is so yummy. And last but not least, the Double Tree Signature Chocolate Chip Walnut Cookie received at check in was SO DELICIOUS! With a daughter as a baker, I’ve tasted great cookies and this is among them. And it appears I’m not the only one who thinks this as I discovered they offer a tin of these for purchase. Will definitely visit again."
