"Beautiful and nostalgic. Trip back in time to historic late 1800's in the Rio Grande. Stay for a few nights and you will understand why you may never forget La Borde House..."
"The reason I gave five stars on everything was because if you're looking specifically for a haunted place to stay this is where you want to go. My family rented out almost all the rooms for a few days in December of 2023. My cousin and her daughter stayed in the Maria Tejas, and the night after everyone else had left from the night before they were alone in the house. They heard lots of furniture moving, saw one of the doors to the patio open, the opposite side of the red room in the hallway when no one had been in that area. Throughout the night they heard moaning, roaring, voices and footsteps even though they were alone. The staff left around five or six I forgot the exact time so it definitely wasn't staff that was there. The night prior to the all of the most activity my uncle in the Texian heard the toilet flushing over and over throughout the night. Which doesn't make sense because it's one of those old toilets that you have to pull down the wouldn't handle that's hanging from a chain in order to pull the toilet to flush it. Overall we did get a creepy feeling the night that I was there, and I heard someone say hi in the hallway right before we turned on the TV. My niece soon came up to the door to knock and we asked her if she had said something before she knocked and she said no. It was very strange. My sister had terrible dreams all night long as if the bed was levitating and she said It felt really real and that in her dream the ghost was saying hi, hi, hi over and over again. Again that could have just been a dream out of fear, but to her it felt really real. Definitely stay here if you're wanting some sort of experience. If you're looking for a relaxing place to stay, you probably will have a hard time falling asleep."
"Nice older Victorian style place. Stayed in Maria Tejas and my mom stayed in the Rio Grande. Some doors didn’t securely close (back doors leading to patio) and we have an okay stay except for two ladies who sat right outside our window in the wee hours of the night talking VERY loudly."
"Place is haunted. My door would open as my hand neared the knob. Lights would turn off overnight. Could hear running footsteps in room next door. Che's has awesome food. The courtyard is very nice."
