"EDITED to 2 stars since Mercer replied reminding me 3 good years should account for something. And yes some owner operators do successfully profit here. I won't get into speculation as to why certain people are able to do so well consistently. Been here 4 years. Last 8 months have been the worst tho. Steady decline in loads and rates to below acceptable levels. They still hiring like crazy though, even when they can't keep their current drivers busy. They have a ton of cheap freight. See picture for load board rates. Mercer people are very nice on the phone, the agents are a bit two-faced and love to pull stunts with the load descriptions, but the coordinators are good people. Their ability to accept and book $1 a mile freight with a straight face takes skill. What it comes down to it for me is the market is down, rates are down, contractors are struggling, and Mercer is still hiring like mad, still promising good rates. The message that sends to current contractors is a clear one."

"So far so good. Less Than a year later I wish I had not said another word but I don’t like this company. Matt H. canceled contract because I said 1more word? Very arrogant Said I didn’t listen and that I had not run a load in 2months? Lie !!!! My engine broke so I teamed then got scammed by teammate (with no back up) from them He warned me then I had not done anything wrong? Except talk politely about why I had a blown engine and never understood the help system the say they have. instead they treated me like a person who needed counsel and protection from predators of repair???? Only to find out what could have ended ok Didn’t and now they are the predator. Worst deal out of 17 yrs driving I ever made … I can’t take that to the bank but you can …. I wipe my hands and conscience of this place … wolf in sheep’s clothing . At my late age I’d rather clean toilets than to go thru this again anywhere . Gives trucking a bad name"

"Been at Mercer now for 1 year 9 months best decision I made as an owner opp. They let my wife drive with me with no experience (had to go to a credited cdl school). Great ppl & great agents. Build a relationship with them & you will be alright. Only came across an agent I can’t deal with twice in my almost 2 years here. Paid my truck off & even in this time of the economy doing whatever it wants Mercer has a good base of contract stuff that’s paying above average."
