"I was in a crunch for summer boarding and was so happy I found them. They took really good care of my horse. The facilities are well maintained and the staff are very nice. I’m especially grateful to Victoria and Jen. They kept me updated on Texas and his training while there. I highly recommend this farm if you are looking for full board."
"West Wind Stables provides a welcoming and relaxed experience all around. This is one of the most beautiful and scenic farms you can find in Lexington. The Taylors and West Wind staff go out of their way to make every boarder feel welcomed and appreciated. Being able to hack it out in a 200 acre field behind the property is another big bonus. The barn community is friendly, laid-back, and helpful which isn't always the case at other boarding barns I've experienced. If you're looking for lessons, they have 2 trainers, Jen and Vicky, and both genuinely care about the work they're putting into the rider as well as the horse. The photo was taken from my truck at the entrance on a summer night, the sunsets here are gorgeous!"
"We were lucky enough to board with West Wind over the last 15 months. It was the perfect experience for myself and my baby gelding. First, the staff is professional, knowledgeable, and they genuinely care about the horses like their own. Secondly, and maybe most important the other boarders are like family. Everyone looked out for each other and if they saw the smallest scratch you got a text and photos. Trail riding through the beautiful property and cattle fields was always better with good company. The ladies went out daily. There was a great mix of show and pleasure riders. Finally, there is Jen Taylor who took my untrained toddler of a horse and brought him along into a true gentleman. It was amazing the progress we made given myself and my horse were both green. My gelding could not have been better cared for between the 22 acre turnout, roomy cool clean stall, and loving care he received. We unfortunately had to move to VA for work and will miss West Wind tremendously for so many reasons. Most of all, the peace of mind of knowing my horse was in good hands if I couldn’t get in to see him for a couple days. If you want a no drama, professional, caring facility that treats you and your baby like family - West Wind is the place for you."
"While the facility is beautiful and my horse enjoyed the property, the barn is severely understaffed and managed poorly. The owners know virtually nothing about horses or horse care and had very little accountability for mistakes. I often encountered small problems with supplements, blanketing, and other basic horse care tasks. I originally moved to this facility to have a trainer, but unfortunately the training and lesson program at West Wind is underwhelming. While boarders can take full advantage of a covered arena, outdoor arena, trails, and round pen, all of these things are run down and in need of maintenance. My horse was generally happy here, but unfortunately I was not."
"Horrible barn. I boarded here for about 6 months while I was in college last year- things were constantly going missing (blankets from pasture boarders and halters mostly- I never got my horse's leather halter back), the stalls smelled and looked like they were horribly cleaned (see attached photo- this was after I had been cleaning my own horse's stall quite thoroughly in the evening for a few weeks at that point. I would also constantly be finding decent-sized chunks of poop in the banked up bedding I was pulling down, ones that could have easily been picked up with a pitchfork. They also didn't use more than a half inch of bedding, at most, not enough to soak up urine), water buckets looked like they were rarely clean and were frequently slimy to the touch, and their recordkeeping is awful. It took half an hour longer to leave with my horse than it should have because they were convinced I hadn't paid my board for the previous month. The barn manager was also almost never actually at the barn... All in all, terrible service, terrible staff, and NOT worth the money I paid or the time spent there."
