"Heard this museum was must see place, so we took a 3 1/2 hour road trip and was not disappointed in the least! The exhibits are phenomenal, the staff was very knowledgeable and pleasantly helpful, the gift shop prices are very reasonable. We are planning to go back the first weekend in June 2024 to a huge mineral show."
"I visited this museum in early July with my girlfriend. We are both rock nerds (I'm more so a fossil nerd), and this place blew us both away. I have been all over the country to different rock museums. This one is the best. The owners and staff were very nice and knowledgeable, and their rocks in the museum were priced very generously compared to other shops, at or even below market value. We bought a geode, which can be seen below. The owner even gave me a handful of blastoid fossils for free when I said I had never found any before! My only (minor) complaint is that some of the vertebrate fossils were mislabeled! I believe the small aquatic reptiles were in fact nothosaurs - not aquatic dinosaurs as the label says."
"It is an absolutely amazing place with a unique history . If.i could go every day i would. so many unique specimens and so many awesome stones to purchase in the gift shop and the prices are SO cheap not kidding. This is a place to visit as a crystal collector or a rock hound."
"I love this museum. Bonus points for a great gift shop! Take home a piece of the heir's personal collection. If you love getting up close and drooling over specimen pieces, you will enjoy this small town exhibit. Several pieces have been exhibited at the Smithsonian. Knowledgable staff. Lots of local history surrounding the family that donated the majority of the collection. (Miners beware. Call for current status on accessing any mines. You will have to do a lot of homework to find mine owners to get permission to mine. )"
"This museum contains a valuable collection of fluorite and other minerals from this area. It also has specimens from around the world. The staff gives an informative tour. They are knowledgeable and kind. I was knocked over by their fluorescent and transparent exhibits. Prices on rocks and gifts are better than reasonable. If you are in the area, you must stop in. The experience is worth it!"
