"Great place to stay for an offroad adventure. Very accommodating and well set up. Also has great beds, hot showers, big bathrooms, and a large kitchen. Fire pit is cool. And, has a minisplit in each room for comfortable temperature. The owner will even take you dirtbike riding. Awesome place!"
"Great place to stay. A group of us stayed in the house for 5 days. The house was very clean and had everything you need. Even the beds were made and they were comfy !! Has a nice fire pit, the place is located off the highway. You have to ride about 2 miles down the highway is the only downfall, but its allowed there. Buffalo mountain is a nice trail system to ride. We rode atvs and dirtbikes. Butch, the owner, is a great guy. Very welcoming, he took the time to outline a nice loop on the trail system for our first day, turned out to be a great day of riding. We also went on a dirtbike tour with butch. Butch was quick to point out land marks and teach us some stuff about the area. We will definitely be returning."
"We went for a 4 day trip riding dirtbikes and UTVs. Butch and his wife were great taking us on a tour of the Martin county trails which to us were better than Hatfield McCoy. We stayed at the private house which was spacious and separated enough from the lodge next door. There is a master bedroom and another bedroom with about 3 bunkbeds. Mattresses on these were great even for a 6'3 person. I would definitely recommend Butch and Trailblazers to anyone looking for an authentic Hatfield experience."
"I stayed at this location with 8 other riders from Central Florida. Things you should know: you can ride to the trailhead from the lodge (about 2 miles of hard road). Its not "legal" but the Kentucky's Sheriffs do not enforce this particular law due to the tourism these activities generate for their respective towns. In short you wont have an issue, we passed many Deputies and they smiled and waived. The lodge is 4 rooms with a queen and 4 beds; in a bunk bed fashion, all in the same room (no privacy). The lodge was clean and well maintained, the common room was awesome and the showers and bathrooms were comfortable and clean. The front porch and fire pit give riders a place to unwind and enjoy the great weather. Between our group and the one from Ohio; staying with us, we had around 20 people in the lodge and there was still plenty of room. local Towns: the Town of Williamson is great. The residents waive you through the stop signs and smile and waive as you go by. When you shop at the local stores they thank you for your business and answer any questions you have. We ate our only "sit down" meat at "The Steak House" which provided awesome service and great food (and a little shopping for the girls). The town of Matawan was also great as it gave the girls a chance to do some shopping while we searched for a Margarita (its a dry town). Its awesome to be able to drive your machine right into a parking spot and eat lunch or shop. Local trails: The linked Buffalo Mountain trail system is extremely easy to navigate. The black trails here equal to the blue trails at Windrock and the ranking system is slightly easier than there comparable trails in Brimstone. Any machine with any capability and decently experienced riders will accomplish green and blue trails with ease. If you want even a little technical driving you have to find a black trail. Cons: Butch and his wife are very nice. In their defense they were bombarded with two huge groups who showed up at roughly the same time; however, they appeared overwhelmed and unsure of pricing. This was possibly because we had different people coming and going throughout the stay. You pay by the head not by the room which gets extremely confusing if some are coming late or leaving early, but I understand that this is the way all of the lodges do it around here. Lastly, if you want beautiful views from the lodge this is not the place. You sacrifice the views for the convenience of being in town (your choice, but the views will be out on the trails either way). All together, I would recommend the place to others. I have no doubt as time goes on the little issues with pricing will be fixed as they get more experienced running the lodge."
"I stayed at Trailblazers and rented a side by side. The owner was on vacation when I stayed. He had a great man by the name of Zach help me check in. The house was not cleaned to my standards, but we simply needed a place to stay. I am a severe clean freak. I cleaned the house before I left, thinking how easy I make it for the maids. I even cleaned the rugs! Imagine my surprise when I get a call from the owner saying that he was charging me an extra $100, because my dogs made a mess in the house! Of course, he was not there when I left, so he really has no idea what the house was like. Anyway, this business is not ran professionally. Trail riding is great. Just don't do business with Trailblazers."
